Over the course of the week, Blizzard are content on sharing with us some of the new units from the upcoming expansion to StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty – StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm.
Via the company’s Facebook page, Blizzard have already posted silhouettes of two mysterious looking units. One is part of the swarming alien race, the Zerg; the other sides with the Terran. No specific information regarding the units’ abilities, uses, or even their tiers is yet available.
New silhouettes will continue to be posted over the course of the week, along with crystal clear screenshots of the expansion’s single-player mode, which have so far revealed a customisable Queen of Blades along with some interesting “mutations” for the classic Zerg arsenal.
With no estimated release window, Heart of the Swarm could remain in the shadows for some time yet. The expansion is the first to hit StarCraft II since its release more than a year ago, and features Sarah Kerrigan, the Terran Ghost doomed to control a swarm of Zerg as the “Queen of Blades” into a universal battle of control for the Coprulu Sector. Detailing her efforts to regain control of the now scattered Zerg broods after her release by Jim Raynor, Sarah Kerrigan goes on the run to reform the swarm for an unknown cause.
In the future, Blizzard plan to develop and release an additional expansion to detail the struggle of the Protoss race in their bid to exterminate the Zerg swarm.
