MTV’s Video Music Awards were held last night at Radio City Music Hall in New York. The big winners included Panic! At the Disco, who won for Video of the Year, Gnarls Barkley, and James Blunt, who both took home multiple awards. Other winners included All-American Rejects for Best Group Video, The Black Eyed Peas for Best Hip-Hop Video, and A.F.I. for Best Rock Video.
Mos Def was arrested outside Radio City Music Hall last night because he did not have authorization to perform. The rapper was performing, from a flatbed truck, a version of the song “Katrina Clap,” which criticizes the Bush administration for its slow response to the Hurricane Katrina disaster. Police ordered the rapper to stop performing and then arrested him, as well as members of his entourage. Mos Def was released early on September 1. Mos Def’s third album is due out later this year.
