Teams that have not try to get what they covet. Teams that have add unto the fold. That’s how I sum up the NFL Draft. It is how championship teams are started and completed. As much of an impact as free agency has in the modern version of the NFL, it is the draft that routinely makes and breaks franchises.

Expect to see trades up and down the draft board in the first round as teams jockey for positioning to acquire the top talent on their respective draft boards, hoping to fill needs and get closer to the playoffs or a championship. Many of these trades will involve quarterbacks and wide receivers rumored to change jerseys. You can also expect to see the usual gaggle of ESPN experts on hand to dissect every player, trade, pick, and move made over the two-day event. There are always teams that “reach” on a player and teams who “luck into” a player that falls into place unexpectedly. All in all, the NFL Draft represents the high point of the football off-season.

Blogcritics Sports will be live blogging the first round of the event for your enjoyment here on the BC Sports page.
