BC Music Goodie Bag: Scott Grimes, The Soft Reeds, and Matt Hires

In this edition of the Goodie Bag we have video clips, news, contests, and tour dates for Scott Grimes, The Soft Reeds, and Matt Hires. There’s so much to share, let’s not waste any more time, and get on to the good stuff…

Scott Grimes: Drive

The EP Drive, released last week by the singer/songwriter/actor Scott Grimes is a culmination of years of experiences on life’s road for the songwriting team Grimes/(Dave) Harris according to the album’s page on CD Baby.

Even if you’re not familiar with the music (yet!) you’ll know Grimes from his roles on Band of Brothers, Party of Five and more recently, ER. He’s also the voice of Steve Smith on American Dad and appeared in the blockbuster Robin Hood with Russell Crow.

You may remember Blogcritics Music ran an in-depth interview that I conducted with Dave Harris in May of 2009, in which he talked about the songwriting relationship: “There’s something about the writing partnership. A lot of it is that we feel so comfortable together because we know each other so well. When you write it’s very personal and you have to let your guard down a little bit and expose yourself.”

I’ve been living with Drive for a week and have to say Harris’s description certainly applies. They tap into deep emotions and while the songs could be described as singer/songwriter material, they also reflect pop and light rock genres. I don’t often make recommendations here in the Goodie Bag, but for fans of the above mentioned genres, this is a must buy.

As announced by Scott Grimes today on twitter, fans are being asked to contribute video clips of themsleves singing the single “Hide” to be used in the upcoming video.

Here’s the tweet: “Wanna be in Scott Grimes video for “HIDE” gang? Film yourself singing it! Details are here
