Late Day Bargains

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:23 pm by Craig

Sometimes posting bargains is easier than other times. It isn’t just a matter of going to the company’s website and pointing my little finger and saying, “Yes. That is the one.”

I have to go to the site. Find the cool deals. Go to the special page and see if I can put the link up here. Not all deals can be linked for whatever reason. Unfortunately one of the linking programs that sometimes gives me hassles is Overstock.com. It is working RIGHT NOW, so here come the late day Overstock.com bargains.

———-

Bargain IBM Laptop for $499.99 - This one might not be here long. This laptop isn’t a “brand new, cutting edge, let’s replace the desktop with a laptop” type of thing that you might find brand new on other sites, but the IBM laptops are built like little micro-processor-containing tanks. They last nearly forever, and if you are looking to put some computing ability in your living room so you can search the internet this computer is great. If you need something that will allow you to stay in bed and not face the day watching DVD’s all day long, then this is your deal. With portable DVD players costing between $100 and $500 bucks, why not also get a machine that will let you surf the net and play solitaire?

IBM ThinkPad T23 1.13GHz Pentium III Laptop w/DVD

Stay ahead of the game at work or at school with the IBM ThinkPad T23 notebook computer.

Fueled by a 1.13GHz Pentium III processor, this notebook packs 256MB of system memory along with a large 30GB hard drive. Enjoy your favorite movie on your next flight with the integrated DVD-ROM drive.

Click on Overstock.com for huge savings on notebook computers and accessories.

Specifications:
Display: 14-inch TFT
Processor: 1.13GHz Pentium III
System memory: 256MB
Hard drive: 30GB
Optical drive: DVD-ROM
Floppy Drive: Not included

Modem: 56K
External ports: two USB, one PS/2 mouse port, DC line in, one parallel, one serial
Battery: Li-ion
Operating system: Windows 2000 Pro

I know you probably still have every Breakfast Club movie sitting around your house, but unfortunately your copy of St. Elmo’s Fire is on VHS. Well, now instead of having a clunky VCR and a DVD player in your rack of devices for under $100 you can have the combo unit from a reputable brand like Sony. Sony has been taking huge hits lately for their anti-piracy DRM technology, but let’s face it. These people make a mean VCR.

Sony SLV-D350P DVD/VCR Combo

Experience the ultimate in media playback versatility with the Sony SLV-D350P DVD/VCR combo.

Showcasing a sleek, stylish finish, the SLV-D350P features a DVD player with multi-format playback, and a Hi-Fi VCR for high quality VHS playback. Dolby Digital and DTS outputs deliver the highest quality sound available.

Make Overstock.com your first choice for huge savings on a wide selection of brand-name electronics.

Features include:
DVD/VCR combo unit
WEGA styling
Progressive-scan DVD output
1-month, 8-event VCR programming
Plays video-mode DVD+R/DVD+RW/DVD-R/DVD-RW/MP3 CD/JPEG CD/quasi-S-VHS playback (at VHS resolution)
DVD bookmarking, resume, and picture zoom
4-head VCR
Commercial skip
19-micron heads
Multi-brand remote control
Dolby Digital/DTS digital outputs

———-

Oh, and if you want to backup that old copy of The Breakfast Club to DVD, you should probably combo your last purchase with this one. $100 for a DVD writer is pretty sweet. It doesn’t make much sense to copy one movie, but if you look at that entire VHS collection and possibly the home movies of you singing in the Christmas, errr Holiday choir when you were 7 years old, then this DVD writer starts to pay some serious dividends. You know you want those movies to live forever. Your best chance is getting them off that antiquated plastic tape that is just one wrong move away from being destroyed.

HP DC4000 DVD Movie Writer

Dell 5650 100 watt 6 Piece 5.1 Speaker Set

———-

I am lucky enough to have a car with the built in navigation system. I am still shaking my head as to how I was able to get such a luxury. Anyway, after having something as cool as this in my life, I don’t think I will ever be able to live without it ever again. Whether I needed to avoid traffic in Chicago by hatching my way through Southside Chicago neighborhoods, or whether I am looking for weird addresses out in the country in Ohio, the Nav System is the greatest invention ever. EVER. I implore you all to consider this item for your own lives. Almost as valuable as the cell phone, while being far less annoying in public.

———-

Holy Megapixels Batman! 7.1? Let’s be honest, cameras are not this cool yet. It probably isn’t truly a 7.1 Megapixel quality, but let’s just say it is far and away better than a 4 or 5 megapixel camera. Fair enough? OK? OK.

Olympus C-7000 7.1MP Digital Camera

Step into the digital realm with the high performance of the Olympus Camedia C-7000 digital camera. Boasting a 7.1-megapixel resolution for your still shots, it features a 30x total zoom power so you can capture fine details even from a distance.

TTL system auto focus
DC-in jack

USB cable

———-

Sometimes I come up with a product and I don’t know if it is a good deal or not. All I look is to see if the overall price is reasonable for the coolness factor. In this case, I have no basis to judge the cost to value ratio of an alarm clock that projects the time on the wall or ceiling. I just know that it sounds pretty cool, and for under $20 it is the kind of product purchase gambling that a whole lot of people wouldn’t be too offended. I may need to purchase one of these for myself because my eyes continually get worse and it would be fun to see a big time projection on my ceiling.

AM/FM Radio Projection Alarm Clock

Sporting an innovative design, the SDAT NX-155 digital alarm clock features 180-degree projection so you can see the time on your wall or ceiling.

Features include:
Digital clock with .6-inch green display
AM/FM radio tuner
180-degree projection
Wake to radio or alarm
Snooze function
Battery back-up with 9V battery (battery not included)
UL listed

As if on cue, the bargain thing is no longer responding. So, I got some deals in. Hopefully it is some stuff you are interested in.

Welcome to Black Friday

Today is the busiest shopping day of the year. Yadda yadda yadda.

Today I will be posting as frequently as I can to make sure that I help you take advantage of all the shopping options that won’t have you tearing your hair or the hair of your loved ones from any heads.

Check back frequently for updates.

To start it off… Yesterday’s impossible-to-buy gift is today’s bargain. A Furby for $25.99

Have you heard about the violence and muggings surrounding the hype of the XBox 360? I choose not to get involved. You too can choose not to get involved if you buy a Gamecube. They are the most reasonable price that they have ever been. You get a whole bundle of stuff for around $115. Sure beats $400 + dollars and a caved in head for the XBox 360.

The Sharper Image isn’t a low price haven. We all know it. What they do have is an incredible selection of gadgets and toys that you are more likely to buy for someone else than you are to buy for yourself. I am not sure why we treat ourselves so badly in that deal, but at least we are taking care of our friends and family. Here are some cool items and they are on sale.

If you don’t have time for a cat or a dog, or even an aquarium for that matter, I have the product for you. A USB aquarium is the perfect stress reliever for you or your geeky computer-addicted loved one. It also runs on 2 double a batteries if you don’t feel like using up a USB port. It is a goofy gift, but for $9.95 it could be kind of fun.

Deals on the Mac Mini from Mac Mall

Posted in Computers at 2:28 pm by Craig

Mac Mini’s are astounding when you see them in person. I have always been a PC guy, but one day I happened upon a mac mini at a Best Buy and the size is truly appealing. It is dwarfed by the XBox, for example. It is smaller than most VCR’s and DVD players. We all know what a premium desk space demands nowadays, so it is definitely worth consideration.
