This musical traces the life of LKY aka Lee Kuan Yew (Adrian Pang), former Prime Minister of Singapore, who spearheaded Singapore's rise from a third world country to a fully developed first world nation.

All in all, 'Singin' in the Rain' is a decent musical that will keep the family entertained and enthused for the most part. Sometimes there's nothing better than some wet fun.

This well-acted production is a collaborative project between Wild Rice's Ivan Heng who directs Singapore actors performing Malaysian texts and Malaysian theatre stalwart Jo Kukathas who takes the reins as director for Singapore texts performed by Malaysian actors.

'Quarters' has plenty of heart, but could've used some major script editing and trimming of characters to make it a tighter play and a better study of people living in close quarters.

All the singers were highly talented and excellent, but the stunner of the night had to be L.A. Benjamin. With her Whitney Houston-like gospel voice soaring effortlessly to the rafters, Benjamin's performance easily struck a chord with the audience's hearts.

The show is fun and entertaining, and it's certainly a production made specifically for Singaporeans. And that's the best birthday gift to a nation turning 50 soon - and to its theatre-loving citizens.
