Announcement: Short-content feeds

Sunday, August 26, 2007, marks the switch of all Blogcritics.org article feeds from full-content to short-content. This is the result of several converging factors, and is unfortunately a permanent decision (as permanent as any decision can be on the web, that is). We are aware of all of the reasons that this is a Bad Idea, and we are aware that some of you will be quite upset about having to click on something to read the free content, and we're sorry. Unfortunately, despite great effort, full-content feeds are not currently economically viable.

Two other factors are involved: full-content feeds have resulted in an unprecedented level of content theft, with BC content appearing on many websites, usually spam sites, without attribution or permission. This duplicate content causes a cascading set of problems, not the least of which is that search engines generally aren't favorable to duplicate content, and don't always guess correctly. Finally, our RSS advertising partner is strongly in favor of short-content feeds.

We hope that you'll continue to subscribe to BC via RSS, and when an article grabs your eye, it's only a click away, still free on the BC website. Thank you for your understanding.

Donewaiting.com Disposable Radio Show Podcast #4

Hey everyone, I'd figure I'd share my podcasts that I'm posting up on donewaiting.com here at Blogcritics.org as well. The first question that I get from people is "What is a podcast?" Well, the simplest answer is that podcasts are radio shows that you can download as a single mp3. This 20+ megabyte mp3 can be downloaded to your computer, your ipod, or any other device that can play mp3s and listened whenever you'd like. There are some programs that will search out your favorite podcast feeds, download the mp3s, and upload them automatically to your iPod. I guess this is where the "pod" in podcasting came from. Personally, I think the term is misleading, because the second biggest question I always get is "Can I listen to this on something other than an iPod?" And the answer, of course, is yes.So here is the latest Podcast we've done for donewaiting.com. You can find all of our podcasts here. I hope you like it. We love feedback, positive or negative.

A bunch of EQ mp3s can be downloaded here. Also, voting for our podcast brings exposure to the show that we wouldn't normally get. It will take a second of your time, and would mean the world to us.PS: As a reminder, you do not need an ipod to listen to this.
