Announcement: Short-content feeds

Sunday, August 26, 2007, marks the switch of all Blogcritics.org article feeds from full-content to short-content. This is the result of several converging factors, and is unfortunately a permanent decision (as permanent as any decision can be on the web, that is). We are aware of all of the reasons that this is a Bad Idea, and we are aware that some of you will be quite upset about having to click on something to read the free content, and we're sorry. Unfortunately, despite great effort, full-content feeds are not currently economically viable.

Two other factors are involved: full-content feeds have resulted in an unprecedented level of content theft, with BC content appearing on many websites, usually spam sites, without attribution or permission. This duplicate content causes a cascading set of problems, not the least of which is that search engines generally aren't favorable to duplicate content, and don't always guess correctly. Finally, our RSS advertising partner is strongly in favor of short-content feeds.

We hope that you'll continue to subscribe to BC via RSS, and when an article grabs your eye, it's only a click away, still free on the BC website. Thank you for your understanding.

DJRadiohead Podcast Experience - Episode 14

Download Episode 14.New segments and great music -- that's what we have in Episode 14. The DJRadiohead News Block makes its debut allowing us to lift up the rocks and see what's hiding under them and I play King for a Day. You get a Song of the Week and I engage in some embarrassing self-disclosure.In this episode you will hear music from Tom Petty, Mudhoney, Ryan Adams, The Rolling Stones, Machines of Loving Grace, The Pernice Brothers, Garbage and more. Sometimes you need to go away and dream it all up again. I'm not saying I have completely reinvented The DJRadiohead Podcast Experience but I do think I have reinvigorated it. I hope you will check it out and let me know what you thought.
Josh Hathaway is Assistant Music Editor for BC Magazine.
The DJRadiohead Podcast Experience - Take 6

Download Episode 13!It took longer than I expected and is about a lot of unrelated things, but Episode 13 is alive and ready for distribution. This week's show takes a quick glance at American politics. We also fling a few fucks and play a few songs. I put forth the suggestion that Bob Dylan's "Love & Theft" and Bruce Springsteen's We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions share quite a lot in common.I also unveil the new Official Theme song of The DJRadiohead Podcast Experience.Enjoy!
Josh Hathaway is Assistant Music Editor for BC Magazine. Download Episode 12The hiatus is over. The DJRadiohead Podcast Experience is back and...shorter than ever. There is a little rust to be heard on this first episode in nearly three months but I am excited the show has returned and I really think you can expect to see more of these on a more frequent basis (it would be hard to do them less frequently). If you subscribed to the show before, you will want to do it again because the feed has changed. If you haven't yet subscribed now is a great time -- and it's FREE. How fuckin' cool is that? Free subscriptions rule.
Josh Hathaway is Assistant Music Editor for BC Magazine. SUBSCRIBE TO THE PODCAST AND NEVER MISS A SINGLE FUCKA DJRadiohead Digital Box Set. A Holiday Double Feature. Twice the DJRadiohead in a single post. Too fucking right! So this might seem a bit absurd, me posting and re-posting and cross posting and the like. And it is. It absolutely fucking is absurd. It's just a part of living and learning and such. Releasing two podcasts (one video, one audio) within a few hours seems to have had something of a cannibalizing effect of sorts. So I am creating one master post. One post to rule them all. One post to find them. And then the fucks descend.Anyway, thanks to everyone who found either the radio show or the video after their intitial release. For those who missed out... here they are in one convenient locations.
Josh Hathaway is Assistant Music Editor for BC Magazine.
DJRadiohead Podcast Experience Episode 9: Deck The Halls With Balls of Fuck

SUBSCRIBE to the DJRadiohead Podcast ExperienceLet the fucking begin! It's Christmas time in DJRadioheadLand. The gauntlet was thrown down in the form of my first video. For my judgment cometh, and that right soon. Santa DJ has filled his bag with fuck and lumps of fuck. Fucks for the good girls and boys. Lumps of fuck for the wicked. Be forewarned. I named names. Some of you criminals got some free promotion in this Episode 9 of The DJRadiohead Podcast Experience. In other words, this episode is perhaps the most self-referential to date. There are several inside jokes and obscure (inane) references. We'll laugh. We'll cry. We'll fuck. OK... not really. But FUCK will be spoken. We'll speak of Sir Isaac Newton and gravity. Your spirits will rise. The children will sing. Peace will return to the valley. Rock the world on high.No DJRadiohead Podcast Experience is complete without great music. Great music is provided. I have that covered in spades. I don't know exactly what the fuck that means but we are just going to go with it.Merry Christmas. And a Happy Fuckin' New Year!
Josh Hathaway is Assistant Music Editor for BC Magazine.
Video Killed the Podcast Star

The VIDEO
The RSS FeedChristmas has come early, kids. The potty-mouthed patron saint of the yuletide, Santa DJ, has a little Christmas gift for you. For those of you who have ever been curious as to the physical appearance of one DJRadiohead (and admit it, you all have been) this is your big chance. Rather than sliding my fat ass down your chimneys and inviting restraining orders from all corners of the globe, I present this promo video.
This is where it all turns around, boys and girls. The seriousness of the past two episodes is taking a big backseat. With Episode 9 we return to the formula that made us what we are. In the meantime, I got bored and banged out a little promo video for the show. Episode 9 will be vulgar.
Episode 9 will be profane.
Episode 9 will feature great music.
Episode 9 will air before Christmas.I am calling my shot right here and right now. The gauntlet is on the fuckin' floor. Vulgar. Profane. Music. All the shit you need for a kickass Christmas.
Josh Hathaway is Assistant Music Editor for BC Magazine. By the time some of you get this podcast, it might well be too late. On December 2, Singapore will execute Nguyen Tuong Van and America will have gotten much closer to exectuting the 1000th person since the death penalty was re-instituted in 1976.It took me so long to get another podcast completed yet this one was finished in a couple of days to actually record. The entire thing is a little stream of consciousness. It doesn't have the flow I normally hope to have but time was running short for me to say what I wanted to say before Friday.I hope the rambling and the brief foray into the realm of the political won't turn too many of you off. If nothing else, the music is really good in this episode. You get 3 Springsteens, a Pearl Jam, a Lanegan, and a Dylan. And me. What more could you ask for?Clemency. Mercy. Common sense. Here endeth the rant.
Josh Hathaway is Assistant Music Editor for BC Magazine.
DJRadiohead Podcast Experience: Episode 7

RSS feed to subscribe to the show.Download the show.Episode 7 is a Special Edition. It is my tribute to an artist who has come to mean a great deal to me. That fact should become readily apparent to you when you hear this episode.I try to tell Elliott's story in this episode. At least somewhat. I give some biographical and background information on Elliott and his songs. I am pretty confident the information I am passing along is accurate. Elliott's life and music is not always easy to penetrate. I might have gotten some things wrong or drawn some bad conclusions. I apologize in advance if I did. Most of the podcast is dedicated to Elliott's music which is as it should be. The first time I chose songs for this Episode, I had over an hour and a half of music selected. Even then I felt I was leaving some great stuff out. I obviously had to condense that. I will probably do a companion podcast one day with all the great songs I had to cut from Episode 7. It's an idea. What's left are some of my favorite Elliott songs- they are also among his best. I worked chronologically from Roman Candle to From a Basement on the Hill. Also included is a tribute to Elliott by the amazing Ben Folds. Elliott Smith is in my 'pantheon.' He is one of the all-time greats. I just cannot believe he is gone. This is an episode you won't want to miss whether you are a current Elliott fan or a soon to be Elliott fan. I am pretty proud of how much of this one turned out.I don't endorse, condone, or condemn: this is the investigator's report into Elliott Smith's death. If you are interested in reading it, here it is. If not, don't. The choice is yours.
Josh Hathaway is Assistant Music Editor for BC Magazine.
