Announcement: Short-content feeds

Sunday, August 26, 2007, marks the switch of all Blogcritics.org article feeds from full-content to short-content. This is the result of several converging factors, and is unfortunately a permanent decision (as permanent as any decision can be on the web, that is). We are aware of all of the reasons that this is a Bad Idea, and we are aware that some of you will be quite upset about having to click on something to read the free content, and we're sorry. Unfortunately, despite great effort, full-content feeds are not currently economically viable.

Two other factors are involved: full-content feeds have resulted in an unprecedented level of content theft, with BC content appearing on many websites, usually spam sites, without attribution or permission. This duplicate content causes a cascading set of problems, not the least of which is that search engines generally aren't favorable to duplicate content, and don't always guess correctly. Finally, our RSS advertising partner is strongly in favor of short-content feeds.

We hope that you'll continue to subscribe to BC via RSS, and when an article grabs your eye, it's only a click away, still free on the BC website. Thank you for your understanding.

My Reaction to Clinton was Wrong

No one ever likes to admit that they were wrong, but I am ready to do just that. Here goes:I strongly disliked Clinton and everything that he stood for. During his presidency, I criticized his every move and reveled in every misstep he made. I was practically giddy during the impeachment trial and was angry when he wasn't removed from office (although, I guess I wasn't too angry since I knew that if Al Gore went into the 2000 elections as an incumbent, he probably would have won).Watching all of the blind hatred of Bush coming from the Democrats and the liberals, it made me realize that I was wrong. I should have shown some respect for the man as our President. No one is perfect and, therefore, no one can do the job perfectly.Does this mean that I agree with his policies or his actions, no. But he did deserve some respect as the President of the country that I love. I never should have hoped for him to make mistakes so that I could gloat. I never should have hoped for his downfall because by doing so, I was hoping for my country's downfall.I know that it is easy for me to say this now that Clinton is no longer president, but I pray that I will remember this in the future when my choice for president is not elected.

ACLU wants people who pray removed from society

In Tangipahoa Parish here in Louisiana, the teachers and adminstrators continue to pray in school. This infuriates the ACLU who has continually taken the School Board to court to stop them from praying. In addition, the ACLU cites a prayer it says was recently given at Amite High School, over a loudspeaker, at an awards banquet. The prayer ended with the words "In Jesus' name we pray," violating the ban; the principal of the school sat silently by. So, if they didn't say "In Jesus' name" the ACLU wouldn't have had a problem with prayer? I guess it would have been OK if the prayer ended with "In Allah's name."The ACLU has a solution to this problem: get rid of the people who pray."The consent judgment is repeatedly violated by these individuals because they do not believe anything will happen to them," the ACLU said in its Wednesday court filing. "Their refusal to comply with the consent decree should and must result in their removal from society." (emphasis added)Isn't this the same group that supports criminals? And illegal aliens? So, the American Civil Liberties Union must consider everyone Americans, thus worthy of protection, except Christians. How do they intend to remove these horrible, vicious offenders from society? By sending them to jail.Teachers and administrators in Tangipahoa Parish continue to violate a court-imposed school prayer ban, according to the ACLU, which Wednesday asked a federal judge to send them to jail.Ok, maybe they violate a prayer ban in school. But jail? They are teachers. Wouldn't a fine be an effective punishment, considering the fact that they don't make a lot of money? Unless the ACLU considers these people felons.

Why Chris Shays will stay a Republican

According to The Hill, Rep. Chris Shays wants to remain a Republican despite constantly finding himself siding with the Democrats.Shays has a whole list of reasons as to why he wants to stay a Republican, but I suspect that there is a much different reason why he won't switch parties. It is also the same reason that the "R" will remain behind McCain's name as well. As long as they stay Republican, the media will continue to fawn over them. When Shays spoke out against Tom Delay calling for his resignation, the media was there capturing his every word. His opinion was much sought after and he was wooed by every major news service. When McCain said he agreed with the Democrats in regards to filibusters, he was courted by the MSM like a homecoming queen at prom time. Why switch? They get so much more attention being a "maverick." If they, or any other RINO, switched parties, the MSM would drop them like a hot potato. They would cease to be special. Don't believe me, ask Jim Jeffords (if you can find him, that is).
