Looks like one of Gainesville, Florida’s most predominant punk rock bands, and I am not talking about Against Me!, is back at it again.  Recently a B-sides, splits and covers CD was released by Hot Water Music (HWM) called Till The Wheels Fall Off on No Idea Records.  The on again off again post hardcore punk rock band appears to be unified once again and this CD certainly will help fuel the fans for the moment until more material can be created.

Starting out more than 14 years ago, the band is mainly distinguished for having dual vocals during many of the songs accompanied with makeshift guitar playing.  As many may know, HWM called it quits in 2006 because of front man Chuck Regan’s need to care for his family.  The decision was understood by band members and fans alike and the rest of HWM continued to do their thing.  The remaining members Chris Wollard, Jason Black, and George Rebelo continued making music on their own and also collectively as heard in The Draft while Chuck Regan worked on some solo material in his spare time. 

In late 2007 the band started to hint in interviews and Web posts that they were going to start a small reunion tour.  The reunion prompted the band to gather once again and have currently been touring throughout the U.S. and also hitting up festivals and a couple of special slots overseas.  It appears as if HWM is back at it again.

Opening track “Kill The Night” was actually featured on Rock Against Bush, Vol. 2, a Fat Wreck Chords comp that was released in 2004.  The song focuses on tough times during a redundant fight and is quite distressed.  The following track “Seeing Diamonds” continues the trend.

Previous unreleased, “Home” was one of the stand out songs on the CD not only because it never made it on the 2004’s The New What Next but because it was simply a strong offering from the band.  Almost insecure sounding for a moment the track really revived itself with some killer lyrics and nice guitar work.

The cover of Alkaline Trio’s “God Deciding” captured me with Chuck Regan’s stressed vocals overpowering throughout the track.  This song was taken from the split CD the two bands released in 2002.
