PC Game Review: Cubis Gold 2
Published July 11, 2008
Cubis Gold 2, by Mumbo Jumbo, is a puzzle game that's easy to learn and nearly impossible to master.
The goal of Cubis Gold 2 is to clear a predetermined number of blocks off of a board in a certain amount of time. The cubes come in six different colors: orange, yellow, green, purple, pink and blue. As three or more cubes of the same color touch each other, you get points as they disappear. Sounds easy right?
Well, not once you add in different kinds of cubes such as ghost cubes that disappear and reappear around the board randomly; wedge cubes that wedge themselves under other cubes; brittle cubes that break if another cube scoots into them; and change cubes which change a cube's color. There are also star cubes that will give you some huge bonus points if you're able to incorporate them into three or more cubes of its same color.
Cubis Gold 2 has a very different set up from most games. The board is set up so you view it on a diagonal. You are able to launch your cubes from either of the bottom sections. Be careful not to rush your decisions, or else you could end up shooting your cube off in an unintended direction.
As you advance onto higher levels you will encounter different power-ups that can be used to clear blocks. Cube bombs and lasers are just a few of the fun and inventive ways this game has to help you achieve your goal of clearing out the cubes
These kinds of casual games can be extremely addictive and lots of fun. Cubis Gold 2 is a fantastic puzzle game that will challenge your problem solving skills and your hand-eye coordination.
With three amazingly lush environments, four different and innovative ways to play, and nice relaxing ambient music, Cubis Gold 2 is a relaxing casual gaming experience.
Cubis Gold 2 is rated E (Everyone) by the ESRB for Content Descriptors. This game can also be found on: Mac.
