Though it can’t claim to beat Forza 2 in every regard, GRID is certainly its equal. Where it lacks in car options, tuning and exterior customization, GRID delivers a sense of speed and a pure racing thrill that Gran Turismo and Forza have failed to do so far. Add in a dynamic damage system, an unexpectedly customizable team racing experience and a wide variety of racing styles, and GRID stands tall. It’s easily 2008’s best racing game and the most pure fun I’ve had with a racing title since F-Zero GX on the Gamecube.

Pros: Provides a wide variety of racing types with a deep career mode, featuring the ability to customize sponsorships and hire and fire teammates. Great damage system alongside a real sense of speed and top-notch visuals.

Cons: Not much variety in car selection. No tuning. Limited exterior customization.

GRID is rated E (Everyone) by the ESRB. This game can also be found on: PS3.
