Totem: Die before the End
Hard to come-by metal re-released by Metal Mind to give it another shot. A band plagued by a band label who do rather competent trashy metal with intent. Seven tracks of heaviness from a band that deserved better. One of those bands that is only known by the swotty metal-head they are nonetheless far better than some of the stuff that is out there. There is a certain something here that makes it interesting. Give them a shot if you are looking for something a bit different.
Ocrilim: Annwn
Avant-garde can be a complete load of pretentious bollocks. And this is no exception. While there is no doubt the guitarist Mick Barr is quite talented; he just bores the pants of one with his incessant twiddling. The tracks on here don't even having bloody names and its clear to hear why. There is nothing that one could constitute a song on this CD; merely breaks in the twiddling. It might be "technical stunning" but to anyone but the most anal retentive guitarist is about as enjoyable to listen to as a Yoko Ono release.
On that dull note its time for me to wrap this week's collection up. I have to say its great to see live rock done as well as it was done on Thursday night. I doubt there is anyone who didn't think they got their money's worth.
Stay safe, stay rocking and as Cov puts it "don't let anyone make you afraid". And get yourself to a live show, you won't regret it.
