Product Review: Lenore PVC Figurine
Published June 11, 2008
Once upon a time, there was a cute little girl named Lenore. She played with toys and had little friends. Oh yeah, and she was dead. But don't hold that against her!
Lenore is the creation of Roman Dirge, named for the Edgar Allan Poe poem. His eponymous comic book series stars Lenore with a cast of creepy friends. There is Mr. Gosh, the little puppety-creature who is in love with Lenore, and doesn't seem dissuaded by her frequently murdering him. There is Ragamuffin, Lenore's sidekick, who is an evil ancient vampire now forever trapped in the body of a rag doll. Along the way, there are all sorts of additional creepy characters and evil eccentrics who cross Lenore's path.
Lenore started as an indie comic released by Slave Labor Graphics (also famous for publishing Jhonen Vasquez's Johnny the Homicidal Maniac). But she quickly grew up to become the goth "It" girl. Now, besides her comic books, Lenore has her own line of T-shirts, posters, stickers, and toys.
Just released from Dark Horse Comics comes the Lenore figurine. This sturdy PVC art piece features dear little Lenore, aggravated as a snake swallows her friend Ragamuffin whole and then moves on to annoy her. This high-quality figure is eight inches high and comes in a full-color window box.
Fans will want to take Lenore out of her box, and collectors will want to keep her pristine. Either way, she is an inexpensive piece of art, perfect for your office desk, bookshelf, or mantel. Leave it on your uptight roommate's bed when she is gone, just to annoy her. Freak out your mom. Bask in Lenore's adorable spookiness.
