The following is a partial transcript of the June 3, 2008 episode of the BC Sports Treehouse Fort.

Tuffy — The Detroit Pistons let Flip Saunders go today after three years of averaging nearly 60 wins a season. Joe Dumars is rumored to want Michael Curry for the head coaching post, though reports suggest Darko Milicic is still a candidate.

Suss — The Detroit Red Wings were 35 seconds away from winning the Stanley Cup last night when the Pittsburgh Penguins tied the game with a goal courtesy of Maxime Talbot, then went on to win 4-3 in triple overtime thanks to a power play goal by Petr Sykora. With the miracle comeback win, the Pens forced a Game 6 in Pittsburgh Wednesday night. The Red Wings were unable to play quality defense late in the game, which extended long into the night and into the summer months, at which point NFL training camp began and the Wings penalty killing team was subbed in with the Lions secondary.

Tuffy — Ken Griffey, Jr., sat again for the Cincinnati Reds while stuck on 599 career home runs. Reds manager Dusty Baker expects Griffey's "general soreness" to be better in about a week. In other news, the Reds return from their homestand on June 10th. The well-known superhero Captain Coincidence could not be reached for comment.

Suss — The space shuttle Discovery took off Saturday evening, taking with it Eli Manning's Super Bowl XLII jersey and Craig Biggio's uniform from his final game with the Houston Astros last year. This is all part of NASA's experiment to test the effects of weightlessness on hustle and grit.

Tuffy — Nazi foreplay-lover Max Mosley received a vote of confidence from the organization in charge of Formula One, Sepp Blatter got a rule passed by FIFA that would limit foreigners on soccer teams across Europe, and England recently instituted regulations requiring foreign-born players of all sports in England to pass an English test. In other news, European sports officials are still baffled about the outbreak of racism against certain players and the Polish national football team has not been seen in three weeks.

I read in the Detroit Free Press the other day that Joe Dumars is thought to be seriously considering Isiah Thomas as Flip's replacement.

When I read that, I literally shuddered.

Ah, Michael Curry shall be the next Pistons coach.

Not terribly inspiring, but miles better than Isiah Thomas...
