The following transcript is from the May 27, 2008 edition of the BC Sports Treehouse Fort.

The New York Mets fired manager Willie Randolph in a meeting yesterday, replacing him with William Randolph Hearst, the newspaper magnate. Upon news of Hearst's death 47 years ago, the Mets apologized to Willie Randolph and rehired him.

New Zealander Scott Dixon won the Indy 500 from the pole position. He finished 1.75 seconds ahead of Vitor Meira and 3½ seconds ahead of the question "where did Danica finish?"

The Detroit Red Wings won the first two games of the Stanley Cup, beating the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-0 and 2-0 [on-air correction: 4-0 and 3-0]. The Wings were last seen getting pressed by the Detroit Tigers on how to keep the opponent from scoring like that, and by the Lions on how to get that many points in a two-game span.

Kobe Bryant and his attorney filed a cease and desist letter against gossip website TheDirty.com, who reported an allegation that Bryant cheated on his wife again, this time with a Laker Girl. And in another sign of selflessness, rather than do it himself, Bryant had Lamar Odom fax them the letter.

Titans quarterback Vince Young revealed in an NFL.com interview yesterday that he seriously considered retiring from football after his first year in the league, which explains the three-day span in 2006 which the first-string signal caller was listed as Otto the inflatable quarterback.

Former White Sox, Indians, and in a way Orioles slugger Albert Belle failed to quality for golf's U.S. Open. Then again, so did the rest of us.

And finally, a Brooklyn New York kickball player was arrested in Macy's for carrying around a pirate's sword in the middle of the store. He was also booked with possession of marijuana. While he has yet to explain the pot, 29-year-old Lawrence Jackson says he carried the sword around because he had a vision of an old man appearing before him and bellowing, "IT'S DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE! TAKE THIS."
