This collection covers all their eras and machinations. This is the best live Rush CD since Exit Stage Left. If you don't have a live Rush CD then it's hard not to recommend this and the pleasure it gave me listening to this it's hard not to recommend it full stop. Let's face it Rush just does not release rubbish.

Soul Doctor: That's Live!

Soul Doctor have released That's Live! recorded in Europe between 2005-2007. The album contains the band playing the best of their tracks from various albums including their title track from whence they got their name "Soul Doctor". This is a great run through of their best and shows the band for the talent that they are. A good introduction to those who don't know the band Soul Doctor and a good reminder for those who do of how good these guys are. Live albums can sometimes be a hard sell if you don't know the band but this one rises above and is quite a good introduction.

Top Gun Cowboy: Big Blue

Described on i-Tunes as unclassifiable, this album reminds one of bands like Mister Bungle and their ilk. Sometimes striking one as merely being different for the sake of it. There is really nothing on here to commend. While it's not absolutely horrid and unlistenable as some of these types of releases can be, it really doesn't inspire enough to warrant multiple listens. If you are into very 'out there' stuff then you might want to give Top Gun Cowboy a try but I think most normal rock fans would do well to steer clear.

Munk: Modest Among the Living

Yet another mainstream alternative tinged rock release that never really gets going. As with many of these releases this isn't horrible by any means and you wouldn't find yourself almost causing an accident trying to change the radio. It does however sort of plod along in a pleasant if uninspiring way. There is obviously talent in this band but they need to seek out a bit more originality and see if they can inspire more. A good attempt but just doesn't raise itself above the norm.

There you have it yet another weekly(ish) round up of some recent releases. I am sure there is something for everyone here. It is good to see some of the best bands of the 80s returning to such fine form. Who knows, maybe even Metallica might have one more good album left in them.
