TV Review: Rock the Cradle - Week 6 - The Grand Finale
Published May 08, 2008
Crosby and Kenny Loggins sang, "I'm Alright." Crosby has tried so hard to break through his on-stage insecurities that he cart wheeled across the stage. He and Kenny sang in perfect harmony as only close family members can do with conviction.
Chloe was voted off first. I hope that she gets a songwriter and manager that can appreciate the intriguing and unique quality of her voice.
Jesse's second song was Britney Spears' "Hit Me Baby." It had a pornographic quality to it in addition to his inability to sing. Quite a combination.
Crosby sang, "Believe." His talent was palpable.
After a long and protracted show, it was determined that Crosby Loggins won the $100,000 and the recording contract. The best man won after all. Thank you America.
Crosby sang a final number "Good Enough" which is his own song. He is superb and I will buy his first album.
The judges were: Belinda Carlisle of the Go-Go's; Jamie King, a choreographer, was the stage presence judge (Brian Friedman filled in tonight); June Ambrose was the style/image judge; Larry Rudolph was the overall performance judge; and the host was Ryan Devlin.
While the show gets kudos for originality, the inhumane way they treated the contestants made it a show I would never watch again. The contestants did not know until they were halfway through the show if they'd get the chance to sing that week. No one needs that kind of stress. Especially not the children of rock stars who, as wealthy as their families are, have proven that their parents neglected them. Whether touring, out of the household or in jail, an absent parent makes a poor role model. These kids needed a break. I do not believe that a show like this is a healthy way for these children to act out for their parents' love.
Rock on, Crosby and Chloe!

If you think Chloe's voice is "intriguing and unique" I have a cat whose midnight meowings you will go crazy for.
