DVD Review: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - Special Edition
Published May 05, 2008
The Last Crusade - Special Edition DVD will be available May 13, one week prior to the release of Crystal Skull and contains some extra goodies not available in an older version of the DVD. "The Last Crusade - An Introduction" contains interviews with both Lucas and Spielberg as they discuss the film's inception. "Indy's Women" features interviews with the three actresses from the first three films - Karen Allen, Kate Capshaw, and Alison Doody (who was in The Last Crusade). It's an interesting watch because out of the three, only Allen seemed to be the most pleased with her role as Marion Ravenwood in Raiders. Capshaw seemed dismayed at the criticism received by her character Willie Scott (Temple of Doom), while Doody jokingly complains that Connery had stolen "her part" as Indy's sidekick. "Indy's Friends and Enemies" just talks about, you guessed it, his friends and enemies and wasn't very memorable. There's a storyboards section featuring the opening sequence, and a galleries section with images from the film. Finally there's a trailer for the upcoming video game Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures and a demo of the game.
If you already have The Last Crusade there's no need for you to purchase the Special Edition, unless you're a die-hard Indy fan or happen to like watching special features on DVDs. However, if you don't have this film yet and you had to decide on a version, choose this one.
