Accommodation News and Review: The Iron Horse Hotel
Published May 01, 2008
The Artwork
Noted Milwaukee artist Charles J Dwyer, a friend of Dixon's since childhood, is the maestro behind the Iron Horse's artwork displayed throughout. His previous accomplishments include restoring landmark works from a dome in the Cathedral of Notre Dame, and the murals of the Waldorf Astoria in New York. His works have been consistent sellers since his first New York exhibition sold out in 1992. Dwyer's fingerprints are also on the archival canvas photographs prominently displayed in the rooms throughout the hotel.
The Footprint
In addition to the energy saving appliances mentioned above, the Iron Horse will include systems for in-house recycling and waste management, and guest opt-outs for daily linen and towel changes. The hotel's administrative offices and guest business center will feature recycled paper.
Harley-Davidson Museum
The museum will be about a twenty-minute walk away, just across the river, and visible from the hotel. Visitors are anticipated to number from 350,000 to 500,000 annually.
