The Sick and Twisted Horror Of Joanna Angel is actually two horror/porn flicks from alt-porn actress Joanna Angel. The two short movies (less than an hour total) are reminiscent of 1970s porno-chic in that instead of just being compilations of sex scenes, they both are campy and follow a “plotline”.

The first, “The XXXorcist” is the porno version of The Exorcist. The only way the priest can exorcise the demon from Reagan is by having sex with her. And her mom. Then her again. He finally must rely on “religious” sex toys to get the demon out. Nothing says holy like a Jesus butt-plug.

The second is “Re-Penetrator,” modeled after Re-Animator. In this telling, the doc devises a way to raise the dead to have an insatiable hunger for sex instead of brains. The zombie literally fucks her creator to death.

I am assuming that these are the “cleaned up” versions of these films. There are censor bars over the entire finale of “The XXXorcist.” Numerous cut-aways hide any sort of penetration scenes. You see more sex in your average Skinemax movie. This “unrated” version defeats the entire purpose. While I admire the attempt to include a storyline, and normally enjoy campy versions of famous movies, both these missed the mark. They aren’t campy enough to enjoy as naughty send-ups of the originals. One of the biggest reasons is that the quality still looks like that of quickie porn that is filmed, edited, and distributed over a weekend. The video quality is terrible – it almost looks like it was shot on old-skool VHS. DV cameras are inexpensive – make the investment! The haunted house lighting straddles the line between fun and amateurish.

Ultimately, I wanted The Sick and Twisted Horror of Joanna Angel to be fun on a porn level and/or a camp level, but it was neither. This version is not sexy enough for porn enthusiasts and not campy enough for cult movie aficionados. It seems like a waste of time to release this unrated, because I can’t imagine who would be interested in seeing sexed-up remakes of horror movies without any penetration. Joanna Angel is known as an alt-porn pioneer, but this is not a shining moment.
