Backyard Tire Fire - "Honey To A Bee"
Published April 18, 2008
Backyard Tire Fire is a band I had been wanting to see live for a year and a half. I was first introduced to their music back in 2006 and remember being struck by a quote from Harp Magazine. The writer described Backyard Tire Fire as a group that "explores the harder side of life with a simple man's brilliance that never takes itself too seriously." That quote quickly moved me to push play on their site's music player and the band has been in my rotation ever since.
Beyond being one of the better live band's on the scene today, they are also among the hardest working. Backyard Tire Fire has played 150-200 dates each of the past few years. That relentless drive has allowed them to perfect their live show and very recently earned them a new record deal with Hyena Records. We were quite happy when they took a detour on their way back home to record a taping for Sun Studio Sessions.
We had a great time hanging with these guys. We devoured some Neely's BBQ, drank way too much beer and simply had a blast jamming to these guys all night. Never to known as slackers, Backyard Tire Fire laid down over a dozen tracks for their Session. This one below is called "Honey To a Bee" and I'm betting it'll have you coming back to hear more from these great guys from Illinois. Check it out:
