Concert Review: The Honda Civic Tour featuring Panic at the Disco, Motion City Soundtrack, Phantom Planet, and The Hush Sound

While Tulsa is famous for the Cain’s there is another venue there worth checking out. The Brady Theater, which just happens to be a few blocks away from the Cain's, recently hosted the Honda Civic tour featuring Phantom Planet, The Hush Sound, Motion City Soundtrack, and Panic at the Disco.
The tour is just kicking off and with almost fifty dates scheduled the Honda Civic Tour is hitting most major cities. I drove 2 hours to see these bands play and I don’t know when I’ve had a better night (probably the last show I went to) but I’m telling you, you have to go. Beg, borrow, or steal; just do whatever it takes to get in front of these amazing bands.
Phantom Planet (Alex Greenwald - lead vocals, guitar/ Sam Farrar – bass, background vocals/ Darren Robinson – guitar, background vocals/ Jeff Conrad – drums) opened with some titles from their new album, Raise the Dead, which was released April 15th.
“Do the Panic” was a fitting opening for a show headlined by Panic at the Disco and the crowd screamed their appreciation. They continued with “Raise the Dead” as well as “Dropped” (which can be found on their myspace page). But when it was time to wrap up their set, something which made me very sad since they are so fantastic, they closed with the well known “California” from their 2003 album The Guest. Which they really did write, Alex Greenwald informed the crowd before he strummed the opening cords.
Phantom Planet played a great set, they could have easily continued playing and I wish they had. Alex Greenwald spent a good part of the time talking to the crowd and getting everyone on the floor involved with the show. Afterwards the band made themselves available for autographs and pictures. If I had wanted to beat up a bunch of 14 year-olds for a better spot in line I might have gotten the chance to meet them but just the chance to get to hear them play live was enough. Although a picture with them would have been nice.
The Hush Sound (Bob Morris – guitar and vocals / Chris Faller – bass and vocals/ Darren Wilson – drums and vocals/ Greta Salpeter – piano, guitar, and vocals) were up next and opened with songs from their newest release as well, Goodbye Blues, which is being called their “most ambitious work to date”. Opening with “Medicine Man” which is this folk-pop blend of wonderful, they soon had the crowd moving. It just has such great lyrics and it hooks into you. They also played “Honey” and “As You Cry” from Goodbye Blues and “Wine Red” from their 2006 release Like Vines.
I hadn’t heard that much from them before, except for listening to their songs on their myspace page. But after listening to them live I’m going to have to buy their albums. Their sound is such a great mix of piano and guitar, female and male vocals. The Hush Sound just reaches out and immediately grabs you with songs that you just have to tap your feet to.

Okay i definitely went to this concert in Orlando Florida. It was an amazing night, Phantom Planet was amazing, loved their do the panic song and the ending "California" song as well. Motion city soundtrack just rocked and so did hush sounds. And is there anything i need to say about Panic!.
But they featured some artists on the screen during the intermissions and i fell in love with one of the songs...but i don't know who it is or what the name of the song is. Do you know where i can find out what was featured?
alright, im going to the show on june 3rd and i had saw the show taped at the fillmore and i was quite inpressed i just hope its just AS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!
i was at their vancouver concert yesterday night, and might i say it was one of my best experiences. they were all absolutely fantastic live and of course i had heard of all the bands prior to their performances. i loved how phantom planet incorporated "do the PANIC" as their opening song. the hush sound was fantastic and the crowd went wild for motion city soundtrack. as soon as panic at the disco came out, everybody whipped out their camera as "nine in the afternoon" blared on. i loved how the stage seemed to spew out bubbles as they played "behind the sea" though im not such a great fan of that song. i sang along anyways, to every song they performed.
i would go through all the sweating, hyperventilating and pushing again just to see them all over again. and im not joking.

Sounds like you had a lovely time. I got to see them in San Diego and had a very similar experience. All the bands were terrific, I was quite pleased about that. I hadn't heard Phantom Planet or Motion City Soundtrack prior to the show but was quite impressed. And The Hush Sound are totally amazing, I highly recommend their latest album.
