Music Review: Top 50 Albums of 2007 Pt. V (1-10)
Published April 06, 2008
You can hear all of the MC's who have worked with him thus far receiving a never before seen or heard boost of energy and I don't think that's an accident. His backdrops are the type of magic that make the rapper and the listener wild out from the word go. Resisting bobs of the head and smiles on your face is futile, so don't even think about trying.
Prince Po can't stop trying to shred each cut. I imagine Tom's co-workers hear what Tom is bringing to the table and consciously decide to see if they can top him lyrically which makes for an excellent competitive energy that leads to unearthed masterpieces. It's a two-way tie for dope and the listener is ultimately the winner.
You're going to just have to take my word for it and give this one a try. I'm pretty sure you will love it if you give it the time it deserves, but if you don't at least like it a lot, I will be more than surprised. It's an infectious, magical hip-hop moment and if Tom doesn't mind, I'd like to finally share it with the rest of the world. I confess that I sometimes enjoy keeping secrets such as this to myself, but some things are too good to be ignored and I am forced to share the information. You're welcome.

Clubber Soul
3. Justice - † (Vice)
Honestly, what can I say about this landmark dance album that hasn't been said about any other classic electronic album of the last few years? If you're a fan of great dance music and you own the greatest from the likes of Kraftwerk, Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, DJ Shadow, Aphex Twin, the Prodigy, etc., this is the next logical addition to your music collection. Full of exciting, vibrant, and explosive drums, beeps and blips, this album will leave you moving, grooving, and shaking throughout the duration and smiling long afterwards while a handful of tracks will warrant repeat listens immediately, probably before you even listen to the rest of the songs first.
I didn't want to believe the hype, but this is really that good and better than I thought it ever could be. It's not just fun, but it's also smart at times and it takes the right risks, even if they are minimal ones. It's a simple formula that you've heard many times before, but it really takes a special group to execute it so well and make it sound like something truly new and fresh. Justice is here to stay. Cross my heart.

Jonathan,
My reply didn't entirely come through even though it looked fine on preview. My ID didn't come through either.

Well thought out list & nice writing style...
Though, I would have to disagree with Pig Destroyer being the best for 2007. Illogicist came at us with a most heavy release entitled "The Insight Eye" which is very much technical Death Metal but laid back enough to let you get your "groove on". I'm pretty sure there are a few others out there that I may have overlooked because there have been quite a few releases...

Jonathan,
Good work. I only read your 10 through 1 but liked what I saw. Been out of touch with music scene for a few years but what I see from your post is inspiring. Bookmarked this page and will start to check out the music.
Thanks,
Les
