TV Review: Rock the Cradle

MTV has a new reality series that has a refreshing and original premise. In Rock the Cradle the children of nine superstar musicians compete against one another to determine who has what it takes to be the next rock star.

The nine celebrity offspring featured on Rock the Cradle were:

  • Olivia Newton-John's daughter Chloe Rose Lattanzi
  • Kenny Loggins' son Crosby Loggins
  • Eddie Money's daughter Jesse Money
  • Joe Walsh's (The Eagles) daughter Lucy Walsh
  • Al B. Sure's son Lil Al B Sure
  • Dee Snider's (Twisted Sister) son Jesse Blaze Snider
  • Tom Johnston's (Doobie Brothers) daughter Lara Johnston
  • MC Hammer's daughter Akeiba Burrell Hammer
  • Bobby Brown's son Landon Brown.

During each performance, the camera flashed back to the parent's frozen face as they, like any other parent, held their breath and prayed for their kid not to screw up. During the judging, if the parent happened to be there, the parent was asked how they thought their kid did. I mean, geez, what is any parent going to say?

The truth is, that I believe these nine contestants were chosen specifically because they have such awesome parents and because they have trouble with vocals. There are plenty of celebrity kids they could have chosen who have already proven their singing ability. It seems these kids are having trouble breaking into show business despite their connections. Now America knows why.

Chloe Lattanzi is a beautiful girl with a completely different voice from that of her mother. She chose a song in which she struggled to hit some notes. The preview of the rehearsals was painful to watch but not as painful as seeing Olivia Newton-John trying not to cringe.

Crosby Loggins played the guitar while he sang, indicating that he does have some degree of talent. His microphone did not pick up his voice well but it did sound like he could reach every note he tried for. His stage presence was flat, however.

Jesse Money chose a bad song for her voice. She has a great look but I don't think she "has it."

so tell me if none of them are not any good why does one of them deserve a record contract.
FYI. Lucy walsh had one and was dropped from her label several months ago. Ridiculous
This is not at all entertaining.
And shouldn't Bobby Brown be promoting his book in which he trashed whitney and blamed her for all his addictions. He woulda rather been smoking crack than watching his kid at this show. What a loser!!!!!!

The Hills?! How DARE MTV air a show about MUSIC?! LOL

Of course the bare chested boi is the crown favorite, as well as the bleach blonde slut. When the real talent is Lara and Chloe-- if they can get over their nerves and technical problems. I predict those 2 girls will shine

Crosby Loggins does indeed have natural talent and an amazing CD that was released last Fall to rave reviews. Check it out and you'll be a fan, I promise!
