Comment by Rich L. of New Haven, CT on Comic Book Review: Angel: After the Fall #1 – 3

Well, considering I've got a rep for being hated on numerous Buffy and Angel sites, it only proves my devotion and loyalty to both series. My passion for Buffy and Angel lives on thru these comics. So its understandable if my comments are also passionate and cause ripples in the blog community.

That said, we are up to issue 12 of Angel After the Fall aka ATF and although I obtained my copy of issue 12 two weeks early (no-one believes me but that's ok to) I am sad to think that it will soon be all over. I heard this Angel series will end after issue 16. It will continue at some point in a comic called Angel "Aftermath", which I just heard about today 8/31/08. So that's good. Well at least for me it is and for the fans at large.

Both Buffy season 8 comics and Angel season 6 have been a smashing success. But I wonder why the decision to have Buffy run for more than 30 issues in a season yet Angel is only 16. Not fair I say! But no-one listens to poor Rich. Which sounds better to me than to say "poor Smeagol".

Whats my point? Here it comes... ready? If it wasn't for Buffy season 8 and Angel season 6 I would not even be reading (let alone bought) a bunch of other comics I have sitting here in my apartment (boxes full actually) which says to me that Joss Wheden is a life alterior. He literally changed my way of life. Before March 2007 I was not interested in comics at all (understandable at the age of 45) and now that it is Sept 2008, I can say honestly that I couldn't image a life without these comics being apart of it, life that is.

So thank you Joss Wheden, Brian Lynch, Frank Urro and I even want to thank the folks that hate it when I make comments. For better or for worse, at least I get noticed.

On the one hand, I wish people would just leave series that have gone to television heaven in peace. However, I am enough of a sucker (and fan) that I will still be reading the Joss Whedon condoned comic book series (the 'new seasons')based on Buffy and Angel. It is 'canon' after all and being a big geek 'canon' is a magic word.
