I asked a good friend and former next-door-neighbor, who is incidentally a respected psychiatrist, whether he considered Senator Clinton a pathological liar or sociopath. He declined to opine professionally, without adequate in depth analysis. He did, however, offer the following observation:

"I will hazard this citizen's commonsense observation: she sure stepped on her crank (if she had one!?)!"

I can't fault that sort of analysis.

Oh no. She is not a sociopath. I have thought about that as it can be said that the operations of the government are sociopathic in nature. (I read this interesting article, wish I still had the web address for you. Valid and interesting).

But as far as Hillary goes, no, she is not clinically a sociopath. I have watched her as a personality with such knowledge of traits in mind (I've done some study on the subject, being from Ted Bundy territory...). Anyway, no, she does not meet the criterea to be labeled 'sociopath'.

It looks like a case of 'blowing off' certain attacks with whatever is convenient at the moment.
"what about that airfield" asks the reporter. "oh man, guns and everything! Next question." says Hillary.

whatever it is. It ain't that big a deal.

Yeah, I know. the accurate recollection of true incident. what ever the deal is, i guess she just wasn't mentally prepared for whatever.

I hope she is now. I would hate to have to deal with her if involved in a bumperthumper auto wreck."ma'am, what happened?" asks the officer. Hillary screams.

Anyway, I know. the whole thing still doesn't look that great. Not as bad as being made out to be though.

DM,

I don't know whether you are serious or simply pulling our chains.

Whatever briefing Senator Clinton may have received, and whatever her accurate recollections of hearing "standard military activity noises in the background," may have been, her story about the tarmac greeting ceremony having been canceled and having had to run for cover from the aircraft to a safe place indoors was, quite simply, a lie. There are numerous other examples, some of them less egregious, but I am concerned that many of them may well be indicative of a serious medical problem.

Senator Clinton is a very intelligent person, at least so we are told. A very intelligent, but undisturbed, person would not knowingly and frequently tell lies while knowing that they were lies, and knowing that they could easily be shown to be just that. A very intelligent pathological liar or a very intelligent sociopath very well might.

An old test of the insanity defense in a criminal proceeding was whether the crime would have been committed had there been a policeman at the defendant's elbow at the time. If so, the defendant probably had an irresistible impulse or was unable to distinguish right from wrong, sufficient to negate the requisite criminal intent. That seems apposite here.

Lacking any qualifications in the field of psychiatry, I don't know whether Senator Clinton can accurately be classified as a pathological liar (a lengthy and scholarly, but none the less fascinating, piece on pathological lying) or as a sociopath. Perhaps someone out there with the necessary professional qualifications can provide an answer.

Leaving aside the possibility of mental illness, if Senator Clinton misconstrued security briefings, and "standard military activity noises in the background," as you suggest, for something quite different, and much more threatening, one can only be very, very fearful of putting her in the position of answering the White House phone at 3:00 AM and letting her fantasies run wild.

Surely, there must be someone out there with the appropriate professional qualifications to speak to these concerns.

The battle fire lie? No, not really a lie. Sure, she is briefed by secret service about the threat of sniper fire, etc.

Though at best she may have actually heard standard military activity noises in the background, knowing that there is a real possibility of sniper fire, wouldn't that put some sort of thought of reality in your head at the time? Being vulnerable as a Presidents wife being a USA representative?

Yeah, it was more real than appears in video, etc. There is a threat of her getting her head blown off by a high powered military style rifle. It just goes with the territory in the world of elected/appointed leadership. It is a dangerous game.

So, let Hillary off the hook on that one...

Dan, formatting links correctly is really easy. To learn this vital skill, please visit the following link - How to Format a Link.

It's key to select relevant text for the link, so it makes sense as above. It's always a bad idea to use general terms like "here", "click here" or "link".

Here's another cute Hillary Clinton story.

It seems that Senator Clinton claimed to encounter racial prejudice during a soccer game back when she was in junior high school, at a time when there were no girl's soccer teams at her school. According to Dick Morris,

"'During a junior high school soccer game" on a cold day, Hillary claimed "a goalee told her 'I wish people like you would freeze.'" Stunned, the future first lady asked how she could feel that way when she did not even know her. "I don't have to know you," the goalee shot back, "to know I hate you."

The article doesn't quote anything exactly saying that she was actually playing soccer, but the impression seems to have been that she was. Perhaps she meant to say that the met the goalee during a break in the game at a refreshment stand. I don't know, and don't much care.

The point of the article seems to be that this was a "so what," and it probably was, but that it fuels the fire in which Senator Clinton is self-immolating. There have been other non-exhaustive compendiums of Senator's economy efforts with the truth, but I think the point has been made. She is a chronic liar, and "truth" is whatever the current audience will accept.

That's bad enough in a first lady. In a president, it would be a disaster.

Dan Miller

PS to the editor: in one of my previous posts, you managed to fix the URL reference so that it was incorporated in the text by changing the related text color. I would like to do that, to save you the bother, but don't know how. Perhaps others have the same problem, and a short note on how to do it would be useful. Thanks.

Well...having watched this circus, I can now firmly say that Hillary isn't as smart a liar as her husband. Bill managed to choose a lie that, while it created a huge thunder of scandal, actually made him look pretty good to his chosen base of support.

Hillary, on the other hand, chose a lie that was obvious, confirmable, examinable, and absolutely a LIE. The kind of lies that paper-shufflers try to tell in VFW halls, the kind of lies that guys who never WENT ANYWHERE try to tell to look good. PX Ranger lies-the worst kind if you're trying to pick up cred.

All in all, one wonders if Hillary wasn't trying to HELP Obama during his time of need by deliberately blowing it in a way that any IDIOT could uncover.

mind-boggling.

It's much easier now that he hasn't clinched the Republican nomination. Now, he can quietly fix things while nobody pays attention.

If anyone wants a quick giggle, I saved this article to my hard drive a few months ago, knowing that it would be good for a laugh once the fat lady had sung but fairly certain that once reality hit it would be taken down. Surprisingly, though, it's still online. It explains with unintentional hilariousness, primary by primary, exactly how Ron Paul was certain to win the Republican nomination.

Unfortunately it took segregationist Governor Wallace to reveal the truth that "there's not a dime's worth of difference between" Republicans and Democrats.

Now there's a source of legitimate authority.

The Democrats willingly went along with the War in Iraq, suspension of Habeas Corpus,

Technically Habeas Corpus was never suspended for the general population and the instances where it could be suspended require very specific conditions to pertain.

detaining protesters, banning books like America Deceived (book) from Amazon,

Odd, they've got it available there for $7.65, and if you read the reviews and comments there's info that the rumor of a 'ban' is just a scam to sell this piece of tripe.

"Why do I have to keep proving to people that I am not a liar?!"
-Hillary Rodham Clinton, 2000

Truth is, Hillary Clinton lies. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton's list of lies will provide journalistic fodder for decades. However, thanks to DNA, Internet, and other technologies, many of their misdeeds have already come to light, with more on the way. Although the Clintons continue to lie, thank goodness for that.
JOM,

Well, which version of the quote is accurate? You give me two different versions of a quote, the first is not racist, the second version is (if spoken by a "black".

The new quote "...lazy black people" is not racist if one is a black man talking about his own ethnic group.

Please provide a link to a reputable source of these quotes. You are obviously not copy/pasting as the quote changed 180 degrees between your two comments...

Are you paraphrasing?

If your quote is correct, it's not racist, just provocative.

Now if he implied that HIS ethnic group was superior, and another group was inferior, I would say it was a racist comment.

As you quote him, he is generalizing about the prevailing attitudes of the American people, and even quoted out of context it's far from racist or hate speech.

I don't agree that most people feel that way, but enough do that it's still an issue, especially if one is on the receiving end of it.

Do you really understand what racism is?

Jeffry,

Based on the extraordinary turnouts for the Democrat primaries and caucuses, my crystal ball hints that the turnout for this general election may well exceed that in the past. We'll see.

Also, Mr. Gore is far too busy with global warming (or perhaps smarming, if that is a word -- my spell checker doesn't recognize it) to consider such an insignificant position as President of the United States.

Al Gore to the rescue?
Not too long ago, an NBC reporter [ Ann Curry ] asked Gore if he would jump in the game and run for president. Gore didn't want to answer the qestion. But I think a yes or a no, in politics is pretty much the same as a probably. And since presidents are just figureheads anyway, mouthpieces for the corpo/conservative, and less then half the American people actually voted last time around, I think we kinda figured it out. Politics doesn't work for the little guy.
