The Only Crime Eliot Spitzer Commited Was Being Stupid With His Sexual Desires
Published March 17, 2008
"Till death do us part" is a wonderful, tear-jerking kind of statement that everyone makes right before the ring is placed on another's finger at the typical wedding. People who watch their friends get married must ask one question — is it really till death do us part or until thou gets tired of thee? According to Eliot Spitzer, most likely it was the latter.
The recently resigned Governor of New York had spent over $15,000 on call girls which the media decided was good enough based on the keywords of "sex" and "call girl". Thanks to this, one lady involved in this has found her 15 minutes of fame. Famous by doing nothing seems to be the popular trend these days.
I don't really think Eliot Spitzer was wrong for acquiring the services of a call girl. I do think however that he should have just divorced his wife, told the kids they aren't in love anymore, and then gone about doing the whole call girl thing. Having another girl on the side is fine for the average citizen. Spitzer is a married, well-known figure. Private actions aren't private anymore when people know your name.
This is all the more reason not to be married while in office. You know you aren't going to stick to your obligations always being out in the public eye. Just getting some side girls, that's a lot better than having a family that will hang whichever legacy you left behind over your head.
The ladies who get into this business understand that demand — they weren't forced. They did what anyone who wants to make money does, they did their research. Now those same ladies make a lot more money than the average Joe sees in a month without much effort — unless you suck at making love, which would then take away your profit.

This is truly awful writing. Poor grammar, poor idea development. Total garbage.
don't really think Eliot Spitzer was wrong for acquiring the services of a call girl..
..Having another girl on the side is fine for the average citizen. Spitzer is a married, well-known figure. Private actions aren't private anymore when people know your name.
What a piece of hippy crap.
Glad to see someone is preaching morality.
Let me help you out - when you use a hooker, pay money for sex, transport the hooker across state lines and launder money to do so, your actions cease to become 'private' and become a crime. You might want to read up on that concept.
And 'having another girl ont he side is fine' as you put it, must be fine in your family and friend circle - for most people it is still known as cheating and betrayal of trust of your partner. I guess we're just backwards that way and haven't moved back to the future of the modern free love hippie generation.
The author almost sounds like it he is upset he never got to use the hooker in question's services.
Sad.
I'm just gonna second comments 1,2 & 3. They pretty much say it all.
Don't quit yer day job, Oddball....
"This is all the more reason not to be married while in office. "
This would cause Congress to to be over-run by Battlestar Galactica fans, and we just can't have that.
"Was it wrong for Eliot Spitzer to do that to his wife and family? No. Was it stupid how he went about it? Yes."
If you could have made this your opening sentence, it would have saved me 4 minutes of my life. Wow, that was painful.
This is the most ridiculous article I think I've ever read. "Having a girl on the side is fine for an average citizen...." Huh? Do people actually pay you money to write this ignorant immoral garbage?
You must be a democrat, preaching immorality like this. You must also be a man who has paid for prostitutes in the past, and can relate to Switzer position.
What!!?? What!!??
To me it was just a career change. His political career over? No way. The TV talk show circuit, book deal, etc. is on the way.
Yeah, but what a shit hole thing. In an unfaithful relationship situation, the partner has to just stand their humiliated and degraded by the mates actions.
I hope it pays off for her also... she has paid emotionally and financially (true! abstracttions can explain the dollar and cents reality) and is still paying.
Anyway, what the hell?
What a great year in politics. Craig and Spitzer! What a team. Vote yes!

Ruvy,
I think this is a kid. Let's not be so mean spirited.
Doctor Odd,
I don't agree with your opinion but I commend your expressing your views.
May I ask why this was written, plz?
Doctor Odd. don't worry, this article is OK.
Actually, I like the point of view. I can tell you were just scratching your head thinking "damn, what about this?" while writing. So it is cool that in an abstract way every thought running through your head somehow was expressed.
Cool, you can piss off a bunch of snotty bloggers that way. Good job! 'Snotty bloggers'? Oh boy, what a combination of words.
Anyway, the important thing is that late night TV script writers have some good material to work with. Senator Craig is played out. Thank goodness for Spitzer. In European countries it would only be a scandel if a diaper or golden showers or something kinky was involved.
the Emporers Club. I went there thinking it was a Chinese food place. Was I surprised!
Rock on, dude..

It's hard to find a paragraph in this shallow imprecisely written piece without a howler of incongruity or illogic in it.
And you may need to check out the definition of "crime", too.
