No House Last Night? Take this House, MD Trivia Quiz

Written by Barbara Barnett
Published March 12, 2008

Here it is Wednesday, and nothing “House” to discuss (sigh). And no new episodes until April 28 (double sigh). So... to compensate for the loss, I’ve assembled this (not-so-little) quiz. Are you a casual viewer or a fanatic: are you “Clueless” or do you have “The Right Stuff?” Take this quiz to find out, and then check your answers.

Music is very important to Dr. House, and he has eclectic tastes. We often see House (and his alter-ego Hugh Laurie) playing or listening to it.

21. Name four instruments that House keeps in his apartment.

29. What brand guitar did house acquire in "Human Error"?
30. What’s the name of the song House played with Dave Matthews in "Half-Wit"?

Part III: The House Soundtrack

The music for the show is often brilliant at evoking the mood of a scene. Name the episode and context for these House musical selections.

31. John Mayer's "Gravity"
32. "Hava Nagila”
33. Ryan Adams' "Desire"
34. Elvis Costello's "Beautiful"
35. Sigmund Romberg operetta The Student Prince
36. Lucinda Williams' "Are You All Right?"
37. Gomez' "See the World"
38. Donovan's "Season of the Witch"
39. Bird York's "In the Deep"
40. Three Dog Night's "One"

Part IV: House General Knowledge

41. Name four languages besides English that House can speak or understand.
42. How many times has Wilson been married?
43. How many times (and in what episodes) have patients died?
44. When did Cameron and Chase first get together?
45. How many canes has House had since the first episode?
46. Who is Ingrid and what is her connection to Wilson and House?
47. What are House’s parents’ names?
48. What’s Chase’s father’s name?
49. What’s House’s address?
50. Name one Woody Allen reference in the series.
51. What is Cuddy’s specialty?
52. What is Cameron’s specialty
53. What is Chase’s specialty?
54. What's wrong with Foreman's mom?
55. Name the three episodes in which we have seen House’s scar.

This was hard but I'm not going to stop until I get all the answers. Are you sure you are not David Shore?

#2 — March 12, 2008 @ 23:57PM — Brenda Culver

Hey, thanks for that great quiz!

I scored about a 76 without even thinking too hard. Do I have a problem? Am I a House addict?

#3 — March 13, 2008 @ 00:01AM — Barbara Barnett [URL]

Hey, Sdemar -- You know I'm not Shore ;) Keep working at it, you'll get them all.

Brenda, glad you did well--I was thinking I may have made this too hard. I'm not sure I'm the person you should ask about whether you're addicted. I got them all right (of course I wrote it, but...). But in answer to your question--It's a goooood addiction :)

#4 — March 13, 2008 @ 00:32AM — sdemar

Barbara, I'm just razzing with you because I'm a tease:) I think it's an awesome test and I love it. Yes, I plan to finish. I just need to pull out by boxes of the DVD's for a little assistance.

Brenda, congrats. House Addict? Can't think of a better addiction to have.

#5 — March 13, 2008 @ 00:33AM — sdemar

#6 — March 13, 2008 @ 09:28AM — Tourmaline

Nice one Barbara! I was doing OK until I got to the House Connections section, fell down a bit there :/

But overall I think I got enough for the 60-75 group. Guess I'll find out for sure when you post all the answers :)

#7 — March 13, 2008 @ 09:57AM — Barbara Barnett [URL]

The House Connections are definitely hard. IMDB is probably a good place to start if you want to get all of them (although I didn't use IMDB to write the questions) :)

Good score Tourmaline!

#8 — March 13, 2008 @ 15:14PM — Ann

Wow! I love trivia. I'm afraid I'm "All In." But, as you say, it's a good addiction. Congrats, too! In case you haven't heard yet, there is a link to your quiz on the Fox House main page.

#9 — March 13, 2008 @ 15:17PM — Barbara Barnett [URL]

Hey, Ann--All In is good, too. Thanks for the congrats. I'm really excited that TPTB have linked to this.

Hm..definately didnt know we were supposed to keep score =]. Howerver, i think i did pretty well. And there is nothing better to be addicted to than house, it happens to be my life. Love the quiz, its great.

#11 — March 16, 2008 @ 09:05AM — Barbara Barnett [URL]

Thanks, Blairm,

Answers will be posted on Tuesday or so.

#12 — March 16, 2008 @ 09:39AM — blairm.

Ahh, looking over this quiz for the second time seeing if sleep could have jogged my memory, I thought of a good question for this
Q: What is House's ringtone
A: "What A Man" Linda Lyndell.
However, that may be fairly obvious. I guess it depends on your addiction level ;].

#13 — March 17, 2008 @ 21:57PM — Barbara Barnett [URL]

I've posted the answers right here: House Trivia Quiz: The Answers. Enjoy!

#14 — March 19, 2008 @ 00:50AM — Laura

I don't know if anybody mentioned this yet, but the answer I came up with for question #65 (guest star who was in Pippin) was William Katt, the actor who played the father of Boyd in House Vs. God. He was the guy who played Pippin on the filmed version with Ben Vereen, Martha Raye, and Chita Rivera.

#15 — March 19, 2008 @ 08:05AM — Barbara Barnett [URL]

Hi Laura,

I didn't know that William Katt starred in the film version of Pippin. I remember him from "Greatest American Hero." Cool. So House has dealt with the Broadway AND film Pippins.

#16 — March 19, 2008 @ 17:12PM — mac

Those were not personal nor were they attacks They glaring mistakes in the story line.

I'm sorry I brothered you

#17 — March 19, 2008 @ 17:17PM — Barbara Barnett [URL]

Mac--Not sure what you are referring to??????

#18 — March 20, 2008 @ 20:51PM — Bev [URL]

A wee nitpick about 62 -- R. Lee Ermey's characters in "House" and "Full Metal Jacket" were not in different branches of the service; they were both in the Marines. I remember him as the sarge in "FMJ" at the end of boot camp telling the recruits, "Today, you people are no longer maggots. Today, you are Marines!" (And I still got the answer wrong because I was thinking all the questions referred to actors who played *patients.*)

Still confused about 74; the original question was "Pool hall oracle," but the answer was "no pickles"? Was 74 a different question on the Fox site's version of the quiz?

No matter. I had fun with this -- and scored higher than I expected!

#19 — March 24, 2008 @ 15:56PM — guess

these questions were harder than i thought they would be. I've been watching HOUSE from the beginning and it was still hard.

#20 — March 24, 2008 @ 15:59PM — cluressaferd

How much is each question worth? I dont know what my score is.

#21 — March 24, 2008 @ 16:34PM — Barbara Barnett

Hi Bev...I made an error when I put the answer key up on those two questions. I forgot that I changed them, and when I went back to do the answers I inadvertently used the originals (oops). Of course the pool hall oracle is House's magic 8 ball. "No pickles was actually the original question (answer=Reuben sandwich).

Yup. Both were marines. John was a flyer (that's what I meant) and in Full Metal he was a drill Sergeant (I think).

Guess--sorry. It was intended to be hard (with some easy questions thrown in. I guess it's a matter of obsessional degree.)

cluresaferd--questions are one point each.

Thanks for playing!

#22 — March 29, 2008 @ 14:08PM — Nathan

LoL, I scored an 80 without even thinking lol i think i am a addict

#23 — March 29, 2008 @ 15:06PM — Barbara Barnett [URL]

Nathan--Join the club! Looking forward to some new episodes.

BTW--I will post my second season episode guide in the next couple of days.

#24 — April 1, 2008 @ 18:42PM — Miri

I've had the hardest time coming up with episode names. I keep thinking, "Oh, I know that, the one with the woman who has rabies," and then sweatin' the name for ten minutes. I will get through!
Hint on the musical instruments: he plays all but one on the series "Jeeves and Wooster." Hugh Laurie fans should see that series and the series "Blackadder." Which are both on House's TiVo, as we get a glimpse of it at one point while Wilson's living there.
Great quiz, most knowledgeable fan. Tiding me over until new episodes.
Congrats on the FOX link.

#25 — April 1, 2008 @ 23:33PM — Barbara Barnett [URL]

Hi Miri. So glad you've been enjoying the quiz. It was fun to write, and surely not my last!

Thanks for the note about the fox link. The folks over at the official site were very kind in pointing people to the quiz from the House page.

#26 — April 3, 2008 @ 02:18AM — Alabama

I came up with two more actors from Buffy... Clare Kramer, who played Glory on Buffy, was the paralyzed yoga patient in "Meaning," and Marc Blucas, who was Buffy's college boyfriend Riley, played the patient in "Top Secret."

#27 — April 3, 2008 @ 04:56AM — Roxanne Ciccozzi

I LOVE HOUSE THE TV SHOW SO MUCH IT IS A COOL SHOW TO WOCH ON TV .

#28 — April 3, 2008 @ 06:37AM — Barbara Barnett [URL]

Thanks, Alabama. Thanks for playing (as House would say)

#29 — April 5, 2008 @ 15:57PM — Mayelin

Hi, well the questions are a little difficult, my big problems were House and Music, but I will answer each one of them, because I am an addict to House, I love him and I am not going to stop until know every thing about him and his show.

#30 — April 14, 2008 @ 11:49AM — Anon

You say he affected a "bad" english accent, do you realise Hugh Laurie is english?

#31 — April 14, 2008 @ 12:47PM — Barbara Barnett [URL]

Of course I know that Hugh is English. His "bad" accent was ever more the brilliant because he sounds nothing like the voice he used to make that call in Socratic Method. He was affecting an English accent as American might make if he wasn't an accent expert :)

Hi, Great quiz! i got 76, now I'm scared!! :D
BUT
just one little answer was wrong - Wilson moved in at the end of "Sex Kills" not "clueless".

#33 — April 28, 2008 @ 15:24PM — Heidi Helene Christensen

I TOO am a House Adict. I watch all the reruns - last night, Sunday had 6! I usually watch him one or two shows on Monday and one or two on Friday. I may have to purchase an extra station so I can get him on Fox's other stations!

#34 — May 1, 2008 @ 17:58PM — Melissa

I love the quiz, but I found two mistakes. You also see House's car in Needle in a Haystack, and he has a special cane for All In.

#35 — May 1, 2008 @ 18:06PM — Barbara Barnett [URL]

The special cane in "All In" was the same cane he had in "Sportsmedicine," which I mentioned. THanks for your addition of the car in Needle. Wasn't really a mistake, but there are additional answers (as so many of you have pointed out)! Thanks for playing.
