TV Review: The Biggest Loser - Episode 8
Published February 20, 2008
This week's challenge consisted of three members of each team alternately jumping over or ducking under an orange bar. The Black team’s Brittany won the challenge and therefore picked Dan and Roger from the Blue team to weigh in 24 hours earlier than the rest.
Jillian yelled her team through a “last chance work out.” Standing on their legs as they squatted against the wall seemed a little over the top, even for her.
The Blue team won the weekly weigh-in so the Black team had to vote someone off. Paul was voted off. Finally we get to stop seeing his hands all over his EX-wife. I couldn't stand to watch it and I'm sure their respective new partners weren't thrilled.
To put things in perspective, after this 8th week, look at how much weight they have lost.
BLUE TEAM
- Dan lost 11 pounds this week, with a total weight loss of 84 pounds.
- Roger lost 16 pounds this week, with a total weight loss of 87 pounds.
- Jay lost 16 pounds this week, with a total weight loss of 83 pounds.
- Mark lost 13 pounds this week, with a total weight loss of 65 pounds.
BLACK TEAM
- Maggie lost 4 pounds this week, with a total weight loss of 41 pounds.
- Bernie lost 5 pounds this week, with a total weight loss of 72 pounds.
- Brittany lost 3 pounds this week, with a total weight loss of 36 pounds.
- Kelly lost 7 pounds this week, with a total weight loss of 53 pounds.
- Paul lost 5 pounds this week, with a total weight loss of 67 pounds.
These are significant losses. Each and every participant should be ecstatic. I hate to see people sad that they “only” lost 3-5 pounds in one week. Nevertheless, The Biggest Loser is about the $250,000 jackpot more than teaching people how to eat right and exercise correctly so they didn't get warm fuzzies about the fact that they all lost weight during this very challenging week.

I think The Biggest Looser is a very good show it helps people learn about their self the right things to eat and how to exersize, Jillian is a execelent trainer she cares and is dedicated to the people she trains and works with, she has a great one on one approch with them, she listens to them and willing to help any way she can,i have been in karate for 15 years thoes trainers dont care if your over weight or out shape just do the moves in fact most of them are fat and out of shape their self, really makes you wonder, keep up the good work you are a execlent trainer

Families are enablers, plain and simple. That's one reason the Biggest Loser isn't my favorite show on television. Anyone can lose a ton of weight when they are holed up in a camp with good cop/bad cop trainers who are on them every single day to exercise and eat right. There is a real-life element missing to it. If these people lost this weight in the flow of their daily lives, then that would be amazing. But still, you gotta love this show because it shows you what is possible with a little bit of commitment.
