Late Congressman Tom Lantos "Savaged" on Air by Radio Host

Written by Ruvy
Published February 14, 2008

I remember being told as a child of a funeral where the funeral director got into a big argument with the family of the deceased, demanding payment on the spot before he would allow the funeral to proceed. This was at the grave site in one of the numerous Jewish cemeteries that dot the border of the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens in the city of New York.

This was one of the illustrations of the "culture" of manure stuffed in a bucket that characterized much of Jewish life, both in America and in Europe, and which characterizes much of Israeli "life" now. It was the kind of thing that one does not really want to know about, but it's there, and one had better be aware of it when dealing with Jews of Eastern European extraction, or with Jews under their influence.

It is a rudeness, a viciousness, a needless hatred inherent in much of Eastern European Jewish culture that pervades it like a miasmal disease, that no amount of "cleansing" in a Christian environment can get rid of. The Hutzpá of a prime minister insisting on staying in office after leading his country to defeat in Lebanon is one example of it. Seeing SHAS political leaders denying that the division of Jerusalem is under discussion in order to avoid having to resign their cabinet seats is another. The arrest, solitary confinement, and molestation of female minors for daring to oppose government policy here is yet another.

We saw still another example of this culture of manure rising from a bucket upon the death of Congressman Tom Lantos, z"l, the only survivor of Hitler's death camps ever to get elected the the American house of representatives.

Michael "Savage" Wiener, the host of "Savage Nation," the third most popular syndicated radio program in the United States, saw fit to say the following of the late Congressman Tom Lantos:

You're not supposed to talk badly about the dead. I generally wouldn't do it. But in the case of Tom Lantos, I'll make an exception. I think he was one of the most — he was a scoundrel. And I'll tell you why I detested Tom Lantos. The man survived the Holocaust of World War II and used it as a weapon the rest of his life.
In the Torah, there is a commandment to love your fellow (Jew) as you would love yourself. So, Michael Wiener doesn't follow the Torah (yes, Wiener is a Jew, even if he seems to be a self-hating one). How many American Jews do? But there is something very wrong with a Jew savaging a fellow Jew the day he has died — particularly a decent man like Tom Lantos, z"l.

Yes, people must stick to bashing white male straight christian republicans unless they want their head called for by a special interest group.

Yes, people must stick to bashing white male straight christian republicans unless they want their head called for by a special interest group.

You've missed the point of what I wrote about entirely. I was no fan of Paul Wellstone's politics, or of the fact that he intermarried. But when he died in a plane crash, I did not get on my hind legs and beat my chest with joy shouting "good riddance to bad garbage." Indeed, I criticized those who did - for the very same reason that I attacked the little wienie with the big mouth in this article.

I gave Paul Wellstone, a fellow Jew, the respect he deserved, and I gave his family the respect they deserved. Now, on the other hand, I feel no compunction in telling you that he allied himself with some of the most anti-Israel elements in the Democratic party, and that I found this disgusting.

If Rudy Boschwitz, the retired Republican senator from Minnesota, or Norm Coleman, who is now the senator from Minnesota, were to keel over tomorrow and drop dead, G-d forbid, I would give both the same respect as I give Tom Lantos, z"l.

This is not a matter of "a special interest group" screaming for someone's head on a silver platter - it is a matter of a public personality being expected to show a sense of decency and civilized behavior.

Instead, the little wienie with the "savage" mouth befouled the air waves with disrespect and needless hatred. He deserves to be called out on this, and certainly doesn't deserve his radio "perch" to poison the air further.

JOM "Lantos is gone - one less anti-American asshole to worry about"

#6 — February 14, 2008 @ 21:59PM — bliffle

JOM:

Thanks for the list of some of Tom Lantos' votes in defense of the liberty of USA citizens.

It was refreshing to review his votes against:

1-the dirty-pinko-commie-like oppressive measures of the so-called Patriot Act;

2-the Castro-like acts to spy and wiretap USA citizens;

3-vatican-like violations of church/state separation attempted by religious fanatics;

4-exacerbating class tensions by shifting more of public funds to the wealthy and moving tax liabilities away from those same wealthy;

...

You are truly a fine fellow for reminding us of these principled and freedom-loving stands of Tom Lantos, a Great American.

#7 — February 14, 2008 @ 22:19PM — JustOneMan

"dirty-pinko-commie"
With a statement like that you sound like Archie Bunker or maybe Edith (who was also a dingbat or in your case a moonbat)

Gee..no mention of his racist views on vouchers or college admissions....what a true "Brown Shirt" you are!!!

#8 — February 14, 2008 @ 22:47PM — zingzing

jom, you're heartless. [Personal attack deleted]

ruvy... are jews the only people worth respecting? how about respecting someone just because they are a fellow human being with their own life and loved ones? i believe the commandment reads "love your fellow man," doesn't it? or "love thy neighbor..." or is it "love thine enemy?" i know it doesn't read "love your fellow christian" or "love your fellow white man."

#9 — February 14, 2008 @ 23:24PM — Jet in Columbus [URL]

Very good point Zing...

#10 — February 15, 2008 @ 02:48AM — Ruvy in Jerusalem [URL]

are Jews the only people worth respecting?

Of course not, zing. Even JOM deserves an itty bitty scintilla of respect, even though he would not grant that itty bitty scintilla of respect to the late Congressman Lantos (let alone the rest of us).

You and the other non-Jews are not bound by any of this, by the way. You are bound by the Seven Laws of Noah.

But Wiener is a Jew, and I'm calling the wienie out for sullying all of the rest of us with his disgusting behavior on the radio (is Howard Stern really different? Probably not, but he didn't defile the name of a fellow Jew the day he died - that I am aware of). Whether the bastard likes it or not, he is bound by the 613 commandments of the Torah just like I am, and I'm holding him to one of the basic ones.

The text reads as follows:

"You shall not hate your brother in your heart; you shall reprove your brother and do not bear a sin because of him. You shall not take revenge and you shall not bear a grudge against the members of your people; you shall love your fellow as yourself - I am HASHEM." [vayikrα/Leviticus 19:17-18]

The commentary below notes about vayikrα/Leviticus 19:18: Rabbi 'Akiva said that this ("You shall not take revenge and you shall not bear a grudge against the members of your people; you shall love your fellow as yourself") is the fundamental rule of the Torah (Rashi: Sifra)Hillel paraphrased "what is hateful to you, do not do to others" (Shabbat 31a).

In other words, zing you see in the above our formulation of the Golden Rule, and our source for it. I specify Jew here because of the context of the Hebrew (you shall not bear a grudge against the members of your people).

Put differently, Wiener is held to the minimal level of "love" in that he should at least keep silent about a man he detests the day he dies, and allow a decent interval to pass before heaping condemnations on him.

Voted NO on protecting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Protecting it from what? Was the Spell Binder going to turn it into the Ledge of Allegiance and push people off it?

Considering how many earmarks and amendments get added on, you have no idea what the complete bills were for any of those statements you listed, er, I mean, copied from another website. Unfortunately for you, you are smart enough to know how dumb you are.

Savage is a Jew himself. He doesn't hate Jews. He hates leftists.

#13 — February 15, 2008 @ 03:49AM — Rob [URL]

"In the Torah, there is a commandment to love your fellow (Jew) as you would love yourself."

So, Jews are only obligated to love other Jews, and screw everyone else?

"I was no fan of Paul Wellstone's politics, or of the fact that he intermarried."

So, you don't like it when Jewish men marry non-Jewish women (shiksas)? Sounds like you're the one who might have a "hatred" problem...

#14 — February 15, 2008 @ 04:00AM — Ruvy in Jerusalem [URL]

Re-read comments #2 & #10, Rob. Wiener may hate leftists - that doesn't interest me. But even when a Jewish leftist dies, assuming the the late Congressman Lantos was one, he owes him the minimal respect that I gave the late Paul Wellstone when he died several years ago. I said nothing about his politics or the choices of his that I disliked and noted on his family's notebook what a down to earth guy he was - because he was a very down to earth guy who did not act like he was all that because he was a senator in DC.

But look on the bright side: JOM raises the collective IQ wherever he leaves.

Give it a rest Ruvy...you are nothing more than a hate monger hiding behind the old testament....you spew your filth in the name of GOD!

And for Lantos...he was nothing more than another politcal left wing hack playing the part of the poor "victime" just to get votes and deflect his politcal enemies!

Oh my what a MEESA MASHEENA!

#19 — February 16, 2008 @ 13:29PM — Ruvy in Jerusalem

Susan,

I didn't know this. Reading the late Congressman's bio at Wikipedia indicated that it was nationality (Hungarian) that apparently counted for the late Congressman. His wife is a relative of the Gabor family.

The same could be said about some commenters at this site, JOM. We won't use names in order to avoid personal attacks. We'll see if that mighty brain cell of yourn can figure out which commenter is being referred to....

#22 — February 20, 2008 @ 16:16PM — mourning mormon [URL]

Do you not honor Esther, who married a non-Jew and persuaded her husband to stop a holocaust? Why would some of you then dishonor Tom Lantos, who together with his mormon wife fought to save Jewish lives and to be sure that the holocaust never happens again?

"sad for Tom Lantos his wife and children are Mormon converts no one to observe shiva or bury him as a Jew No Remberence prayers on the anniversary of his passing or to light a memorial candle for him such a shanda"

sad for Judaism that some Jews don't know how to honor a great man, and disgrace even their own traditions about family and funerals in order to vent. I honor Ruvy for remaining true to these traditions even with fellow Jews that he disagrees with. I expect that Mrs. Lantos will honor her husband according to the observations of his Jewish faith. She always honored and supported that aspect of his life.

Regardless of the fact that most of us disagree with him about a good many political issues, mormons would be honored to have a great man like Lantos as one of our own. But Tom Lantos was not a "mormon;" his wife was. Halacha says that the children of the Mother are Jewish, not the children of the father. So the Lantos children were born LDS, not "converts."

To the mourning Mormon;

You appear to be the only individual who has commented who understood what I've been talking about.

Thank you for the kind words.
