<description>Thanks for choosing this excellent album as your album of the year. It would have made my list for 2007, but I only discovered this album (and the band) after I had already put together and formed my top ten list. However, it definitely makes my top 20. 

I do agree with your initial assessment of the middle of the album, though. It does lack the punch of the first four tracks, but picks up again towards the end. However, some of the songs in the middle of the album show some of The National&#039;s best lyrics yet.

I hope 2008 breeds as much good music as 2007 did. Here&#039;s to Hope, Change, and all of those other buzzwords going around the internets these days.</description>
