The Classic Crime has released an acoustic EP titled the Seattle Sessions. The Seattle- based band released their debut in 2005 under punk rock record label Tooth & Nail. Although Tooth & Nail is known for being a Christian record label, The Classic Crime has not confirmed on if they are in fact a religious band.

Albatross, The Classic Crime’s unveiling release included songs that were as mellow as "Brand New" with other songs taking a little more aggressive pop punk approach such as the track “The Fight.” The songs that appear on this EP were songs that did not make it onto the band's debut CD not because they were bad, but because the band felt they did not fit in. The band also felt that these b-sides sounded better when preformed acoustically. The CD was recorded not to just get another CD release under their belt but to also share with their fans something they felt was a little different.

Opening track “Seattle” is a song about their hometown city. The tender singing tells of wanting to leave but still calling Seattle home. I really like lead singer Matt McDonald’s voice on this track, it kept me wanting to hear the next track.

As soon as “Blindfolded” started I immediately discovered what Panic! At The Disco would sound like if they went acoustic. “The Test” seemed to be a track about contemplating life while on the road. This song should get the emo stamp of approval.

The live track, “The Drink In My Hand,” is amazing for a couple of reasons. I really love hearing live tracks but this track was compelling as the fans were silent during the performance. I could imagine all the attention being taken from each fan at the show. The song itself was very beautiful but chilling as the song was about breaking away from a relationship.

The EP really is a nice collection of songs by a band I have a feeling will be getting more attention as soon as they release their follow up full length in 2008. Fans of Brand New, Mae, and even Taking Back Sunday will get a kick out of this album. Where I am not a fan of the emo pop punk, I admit I did like the acoustic Seattle Sessions and will be listening to it again.
