Forget Hillary: Spears Stiffer Competition for Obama
Published January 04, 2008
As Iowans cast their final caucus votes, I raced to CNN.com, so that I could receive instant updates on the final results. Upon my arrival, to much dismay, I found the "most popular" headline to be filled not with the victors' names, but that of Britney Spears!
THE HEADLINE: "In today's news, a shocking development: Spears melodrama outshines Obama victory, 7-2, in national media coverage!" Well... not by that much! But who knew? A landslide for Spears-- without a penny spent!

I shook my head at Spears' media coverage. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that the preview and selection process of the world's most powerful figure could (and eventually would) be overshadowed by the paparazzi's most-loved target? What gives?
In retrospect, perhaps my friend was right: "For better or worse, a woman who can use her womanly wiles to the fullest will always capture the attention of the men (and women) in a room." With Britney's success secret revealed, maybe Hillary Clinton should ignore the naysayers and show a bit more cleavage on the campaign trail. In the end, she might get the ratings boost she desires.

I think Britney was just jealous of all the attention her sister was getting.
