Music Review: A Looney Tunes Sing-A-Long Christmas

A Looney Tunes Sing-A-Long Christmas is a delightful compilation of holiday tunes guaranteed to bring a smile to one's face, no matter if the person is 2 or 92. With the help of voice actors, all your favorite characters sing carols alongside a children's chorus.

Between Billy West, Bob Bergen, and Jeff Glen Bennett, some of the most famous cartoons have made their way into hearts and homes of America. These include King of the Hill, Curious George, Ice Age, Futurama, and The Powderpuff Girls.

"Jingle Bells" is the first song out of the gate, in which Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck have a lively debate about how handle proceedings. When Daffy points out an entire CD is a lot to handle for the two of them, Bugs remarks they are about to get some help. Shortly afterwards, more characters show up.

Foghorn Leghorn takes on "Frosty the Snowman", since, after all, he is large and white, the perfect performer for the role. He isn't too happy about the implication, but does it anyway. I did not have any trouble seeing him lead the parade through town.

"Feliz Navidad" is sung by Speedy Gonzales, who else? There is a little anxiety about whether he will arrive in time to sing, However, he arrives in a flash for his solo in the most well-known foreign language carol in history.

When I heard "Hark the Herald Angels Sing", I had to wonder if these are the same children who sang at the end of the Peanuts' Christmas program. The two versions are practically identical.

"Joy to the World" is a duo with Tweety and Marvin the Martian. This makes for an   unique version. High pitched warbling blends with deeper out of this world bass notes.

Pepe Le Pew takes on "Jingle Bell Rock". Fortunately, smell-o-vision was not available or the effect would have been rather potent.

Sylvester the Cat describes what he received for Christmas last year by singing "The 12 Days of Christmas". Considering how long that list is, the other characters help him out by taking various items.

For "Up on the Housetop", one of the kids has a solo. I'm not sure how old Nell is, but she had a nice voice!

As many characters as there were on this CD, Petunia Pig and Taz were noticeably absent. Foghorn Leghorn stepped up to the plate by taking three songs. I am, however, curious about one thing. Why wasn't Elmer Fudd assigned a song?
