PlayStation Network Update: 12/13/2007

Sigh, PSN updates are starting to look disturbingly like XBLM updates (though not as content heavy unfortunately). Far too much microtransaction content in my mind and not enough demos, themes or even content that is worthwhile. This week we do see a great demo in the form of Burnout Paradise, some add-on content that ranges from great (punk songs for Rock Band), to meh like the extra bowlers for High Velocity Bowling. Seriously, what is up with Sony that they release extra characters a week after the game is released? That means they were ready at launch and they wanted more money? Meh!

Finally we have the downright silly Need for Speed Pro Street downloads, three dollars per car, and they are not even original cars!? They are cars you can unlock during game play, so in essence they are three-dollar cheat codes. Finally as per usual a patch of videos for games and movies. I give this weeks update a C, would have been a D if there was no demo.

Note, unless it says (free) next to the title there is a cost associated with the content, login to your region's PSN store to see the cost to purchase the features/games/content.

Demos

Burnout Paradise Demo (free)
Welcome to the Burnout Paradise Demo. Explore Motor City, Big Surf Beach and Ocean View. Find the Burning Route junction in Motor City. Discover Jumps, Stunts and Smashes all over the map and if you're online, invite friends to join you for some challenges. Remember, this is just a small part of Paradise City.

Add-on Game Content

High Velocity Bowling Bowler 1
It's time to bowl - High Velocity style! Add Amber Vorhees, a semipro softball player turned bowler, to your High Velocity Bowling roster. A San Francisco native, Amber's prowess on the softball mound has translated into her unique bowling style: straight and fast with no fancy spin.

High Velocity Bowling Bowler 2
It's time to bowl - High Velocity style! Add Mike "The Strike" Diaz, a well rounded, albeit short, bowler to your High Velocity Bowling roster. Originally from East Los Angeles, Mike has a fiery attitude and unorthodox bowling style that is sure to spice up the game.

Rock Band
Build your Rock Band library by purchasing "I Fought the Law" by The Clash, "Rockaway Beach" by the Ramones, and "Ever Fallen in Love" which is a cover of a song made famous by Buzzcocks. Rock Band Punk Pack 1 includes all three songs. Please note: you need to actually own Rock Band in order to play these tracks:

* "I Fought the Law" - The Clash
* "Rockaway Beach" - The Ramones
* "Ever Fallen in Love" - Buzzcocks
* Rock Band Punk Pack 1

Need for Speed ProStreet
Unlock vehicles for immediate use. These cars can be achieved without purchase by progressing through Career.
