Music Review: Various Artists - Now That's What I Call Music 26

Now That's What I Call Music is a collection of various artists compilations that first began in the UK. Now we have these CDs being released around the world. In the United States, the first Now CD hit store shelves in 1998. We're currently on number 26, and that hit stores on November 13th. It is a collection of music that contains something for just about everyone from rap and pop to rock and alternative. The songs in the collection are a who's who of what is popular on today's radio. We have everything from Timbaland to Fergie. On the rocker side of things, we have familiar names such as Nickelback and Daughtry.

When you pop the CD into your player, you're immediately hit with more rap and hip hop sounding tracks. The type of songs you can get up and dance to. Artists such as Timbaland, Timberlake, Rihanna are featured, along with Kanye West. The second half of the CD features popular artists such as P!nk and Avril Lavigne. While this CD contained artists I know and know well, the purpose of these compilations is to introduce you to artists you might not know at all. There are some new to me here, and some that I might consider listening to again. One of those artists being Plain White T's, and their song "Hey There Delilah." I'd heard this played briefly on the radio once in the past month, but it wasn't one I had been able to listen to in its entirety since. This CD changed that.

Now What's That I Call Music has been sharing music with the world for a long time now. In the United States currently, they also have a Party Hits compilation and a Christmas hits compilation out just in time for the holidays. With Now That's What I Call Music 26, you can put the CD in your player, and you can listen to an entire disc from beginning to end and like every song. There is over an hour of hits to enjoy. While you might not know every single song on the disc when you first listen to it depending on your own musical listening taste, there is a good chance that when you do listen to the songs once you'll get into things and enjoy them. These are the songs of the moment. A few months from now, they might be replaced with new hits and new favorites, but for that moment we'll have another compilation from Now to listen to.
