Desperate Housewives: The Monster Tornado on Wisteria Lane - Examining the Results

Every so often, an event comes along which defies description — a death in the family, or perhaps a serious illness. These can be expected to a certain extent. Does cancer run in your family? Someone contracting it is hardly shocking. If you are living on your own, or married with children, it stands to reason the death of a parent is somewhere in the future. Even a few careers come with risks, such as firefighting, military service, hospital work, or law enforcement.

However, none of these events compares to the aftermath of a natural disaster. Anyone who watched Desperate Housewives Sunday night saw incredible destruction along with a terrifying reality. I should point out only one more episode has been taped for the season. Since the writers' strike is still ongoing, there is some debate over when to air it. From what I saw, this may not come until 2008.

Still, there are some things I can talk about. Even though the full after-effects of the storm have not been uncovered, lives were changed... in more ways than one.

Katherine Mayfair (Dana Delany, China Beach) found out her husband Adam (Nathan Fillion, Firefly) had an affair with Sylvia (Melora Walters, Big Love) when they lived in Chicago. Sylvia did not take the breakup well, and pursued Adam and his family to Wisteria Lane. The last viewers saw, she ran out of the bathroom and into the storm.

Carlos (Richard Chivara) realized he and Gaby (Eva Longoria) were meant for each other. Unfortunately, he said it in front of Victor (John Slattery, Mad Men) who waited for him with a gun. Don't worry, he missed! The resulting fight slid onto the street. The Wicked Wizard of a Mayor was impaled by a white picket fencepost through the chest. He's dead. Finally!

While there has been speculation of more deaths to come, they are likely buried underneath the rubble. One might be Tom Scavo (Doug Savant), husband of Lynette (Felicity Huffman). He and their kids were in Karen McCluskey's (Kathryn Joosten, The West Wing) basement when the storm smashed it to smithereens. Come to think of it, so was Stella (Polly Bergen, Commander in Chief), Lynette's mom.

Bree (Marcia Cross) and Orson (Kyle McLachlan) made it, as did Katherine and Adam. Susan (Teri Hatcher) was at the hospital with Mike (James Denton), after he pushed her down the stairs. Okay, he has an addiction. I still thought it was over the top.

Who else will die from the tornado? Wait and watch!

No, Stella wasn't in the basement. Stella has left Lynette's home for her gay ex-husband's place. Tom, the kids and Ida Greenburg were in the basement.

Greenberg, I think. Thank you - this adds Lee and Bob into the mix. As previously stated, anyone else who died is probably buried in the debris.
