Grey's Anatomy - The Thrill Is Gone

My main problem of the TV season besides my love/hate relationship with Heroes is wondering: What the hell happened to Grey's Anatomy?

If I remember correctly, Grey's was a mid season replacement for ABC. It was a welcoming presence on Sunday nights, the most depressing night of the week all due to its Monday follow-up. To put it simply, my friends and I took control of Sunday and turned it into McSunday appointment television.

I was terribly dubious at first, wondering how many hospital dramas could one take?

Yet being the unabashed TV junkie I am, I still watched it. After all, it was after the deliciously campy and fresh Desperate Housewives. After watching Grey’s Anatomy’s pilot and its subsequent episodes, I ended up loving it. The writing was effectively emotional, funny, and the dialogue had a bite that was missing from most shows on television.

The characters were likable and going through some of the same things I felt as someone in my 20s (except in a much grander scale.)

Then the relationship became stale.

For me the show started faltering in the second season finale. A prom in a hospital – seriously? It started to become ridiculous. I mean it was never completely realistic but at least it usually straddled the "WTF?/okay, I can live with that" fence.

Then the third season came. Oh boy, the third season. The season where Meredith tried to drown herself so that McBoring could save her, George and Izzy began touching each other's no-no spots, and they introduced... drum roll... Meredith's sister! Yes viewers, Meredith’s sister was accepted into the same surgical program as Meredith but nobody bothered to tell either one!

This season, although better than the last, is just not that good. It went from a show I was emotionally invested in and looked forward to and transformed itself into a ridiculous show where lazy writing is obvious and incredibly distracting. Frankly, it’s embarrassing.

Also, for the love of Bjork, will that show stop making such obvious and lazy parallels between the characters' lives and the patients' stories?

Oh yeah, and everybody in that hospital is damn nosy.

It's just really disappointing. Let's hope I change my mind soon. They just don’t seem to make shows that last anymore.

Grey's anatomy is on ABC every sunday at 11pm. from what i have been seeing, teenagers and even adults cant wait for that day to come just to sit in front of the TV and watch the show. the whole show almost takes place at the hospital, and they have about 5 to 6 big emergencies a day, and they have to do their best not to let the patients die, becausse their job is to save lives.
Grey's anatomy isnt just popular in the United States anymore but becoming to be popular in other countires also, such as morocco. the reason i know that is because my little sister talks to me all the time about the show and tell him how great it is and how popular it became in a short period of time.
so in my opinion, this show will never die, it will just keep succeding and the characters of the serie are great and also very famous in the world. i was never a big fan of Grey's Anatomy, but since i moved to the United Statesa and my roomates were also addicted to the show, i guess i became also and i dont regret it. since the show is every sunday. to make it more fun, we decided that every sunday we will have a pyjama party and invite all the girls over in the room and have some hot coco and pop corn to make it even more fun.

This series went from inspired to trite in the space of one series and will ultimately only be remembered for introducing the word vajayjay to our vocabulary.
