Hawthorne Heights Guitarist Dead At 26

Casey Calvert, guitarist for the rock band Hawthorne Heights, has died at age 26. According to a press release from the band, Calvert passed away in his sleep sometime Friday night. The cause of death is still to be determined.
The band's statement, in its entirety, reads:
Today is probably the worst day ever. Its with our deepest regrets that we have to write this. Casey Calvert passed away in his sleep last night. We found out this afternoon before sound-check. We've spent the entire day trying to come to grips with this and figure out as much as possible.At this time we're not sure what exactly happened. Just last night he was joking around with everyone before he went to bed. We can say with absolute certainty that he was not doing anything illegal. Please, out of respect to Casey and his family, don't contribute or succumb to any gossip you may hear. We don't want his memory to be tainted in the least. Casey was our best friend. He was quirky and awesome and there will truly be no others like him! His loss is unexplainable. As soon as we know more we will let you know.

Based out of Dayton, Ohio, Hawthorne Heights debuted in 2004 with the album, The Silence In Black And White. They released their latest effort, If You Were Lonely, in 2006. A recent fixture on the Vans Warped Tour, they are currently in the midst of a concert tour with Escape The Fate, Amber Pacific, The Aka's, and The Secret Handshake, which is scheduled through December 21.
There is no word yet on Hawthorne Heights' status or future on this itinerary.

People can pass away in their sleep from a variety of factors: an undiagnosed heart ailment (which is more likely in someone this young) or some sort of blood clot/aneurysm.
26 year olds don't die suddenly for no reason, yet the reason may very well have been some unforeseen health issue. It's a sad story all around.

My heart is with the band, and the family of Casey.
Some of you are quite disrespectful. This man was a good friend of theirs and I do believe they'd know if he was doing anything of poor taste because, they would want to stop it at all costs. Those of you who take this lightly need to understand that people have lost their best friend, their beloved family member. Just because you didn't know him personally doesn't mean you have a right to downplay his death. This is a loss for, maybe not everyone, but for quite a few people.
They don't know how he passed yet, and I suppose we'll find out, but don't speak of things you don't rightfully know.
My heart goes out to anyone and everyone who is hurt even slightly by this news. Rest in Peace.

My brother died in his sleep at age 25, he was an all American soccer player and in perfect health, he hated drugs and booze and never touched the stuff. He had an undiagnosed heart arrhythmia, so yes it happens....to athletes and rock stars and normal people. Completely disrespectful to say it was drug related when people don't know anything for sure. For gods sake someone just lost their son, brother,friend, hero, etc. How would you feel if it were you! everyone is entitled to an opinion, but your opinion does not mean you get to disrecpect the dead.

Yes, this is a tragic thing to hear that someone has passed on, but for instance what if you died and some celebrity was watching it on the news do you actually believe that they would care to the slightest degree? Ha! to them everyone in the world besides friends/family/ect. are just another statistic in the born/death ratio. You are just another fan or statistic to add to their wealth and succession. Don't get me wrong though I do understand the need to mourn, but try thinking logically once in awhile.

Casey was a gifted guitarists.The police would have mentioned a massive amount of blood from cutting, or needles from a heroin OD. You guys need to stop and think for a second. He probably died from a PE or a heart arrhythmia. When Sean Taylor (RIP) was shot they didnt say "why he is bleeding is forth-coming...." because blood+tiny hole=bullet wound to leg. It was most likely a lung or heart issue. So coon, stop hating on Casey. He was a good man, musician, and friend.
To be honest, I didn't like their music the SLIGHTEST bit. Not once did I leave the channel be on the radio when they would come on. But it's music. Who cares if they're "emo" or whatever you want to call it. I personally like punk/ska. But music is music, and people like all different kinds. Their music might seem depressing, but people all around might be relating to it. And it doesn't mean they're "emo" for it. They might be going through what they're singing about for like a month or two. And then another one shows up with those same problems. They might be being emotional for a short time, but everyone goes through that. They might think it's cool and call themselves "emo". Who knows. But point is, it's just music. If people like it, don't criticize it. Especially if that band just lost someone so close. You ignorant fools are using their music against something that came into their lives so unexpectedly. Stop saying stupid shit like "Oh he probably cut his wrists" blah blah blah. How disrespectful. You guys wonder why this world is the way it is... You guys wonder why there is so much war. There's your answer. No it might not be the whole cause, but it adds up to everything. Stop being immature and hurtful. Bring in the peace. Help others when their hurting, no matter what choices they make, or what style they have. No matter how different they are, they're hurting.

I'm so sorry for you boys. I truly am. I know what it feels like to lose a close friend. It hurts so much and every day I cry about it. Yeah, I didn't know Casey at all, haha, but I know for a fact that if he was such a close friend to you guys, he would want you guys to move on with life, never forget him, bring more peace into as many lives as you can, and be HAPPY<3 I love you boys. With all due respect to Casey...EMO's label themselves and cut themselves for attention purposes only...not "because of other people". It's a lifestyle they CHOOSE. Most of them have no reason to even be "emo", they're mostly rich, spoiled little brats that aren't getting enough attention.
