TV Review: Ben 10
Published November 23, 2007
The show has gotten so popular that it spawned a recent animated movie, Ben 10: Secret of the Omnitrix.
I have to admit, I love the show as well. It’s simple and straightforward, has lots of action, and it offers a lot of laughs that come from the relationship between Ben, his Grandpa Max, and his cousin, Gwen. In her own right, Gwen has turned out in an interesting fashion too. She’s always been a computer geek and incredibly smart, and knows some martial arts, but she also has an affinity for magic.
We’ve collected seasons one and two. Season three will be released on DVD in 2008. Hopefully the animated move will be as well. The show has proven so popular that a new live-action Ben 10 movie has recently been televised. Ben 10: Race Against Time debuted in November, 2007.
So far, all four seasons have featured an unending summer vacation Ben has been on with Gwen and Grandpa Max. The live action feature brings them all back home for school and new adventures.
Unfortunately, season four will be the last of the present Ben 10 incarnation. But, thankfully, a new season with a 15-year-old Ben and Gwen appears in the offing. We’ve had a sneak peek of Ben’s possible futures (a lot like the X-Men’s Days of Future Past storyline), but we don’t know if that’s the direction the new series will take. It’s tentatively being called Ben 10: Hero Generation. We’re looking forward to it.
