This film won the Palme D'or at the 2007 Cannes film festival. That is the top award of one of the most prestigious film festivals. The movie deals with abortion in Romania under communist rule. Abortion is/was illegal (unsure of its current status), and at a certain point it becomes manslaughter. The trailer seems pretty intense. I hope to get the opportunity to see this one.

Fool's Gold - Poster

Matthew McConaughy and Kate Hudson are paired in this romantic adventure, the latest from director Andy Tennant (Hitch). I have not seen a trailer for this yet, but Kate looks great in gold on the poster. The story centers on the clues to a lost treasure rekindling the romance and adventure in the married couple's life. I will reserve judgment until I at least see a trailer.

Wall-E - Poster

Pixar's next feature now has a release date, June 27, 2008. It is called Wall-E and it centers on a robot searching for his purpose. The teaser footage premiered with the last Pixar outing, the brilliant Ratatouille. Now, what better way to announce the premiere date than with a new poster? It is a simple design focusing on the lead character with a white background. Take a look:

Mad Money - Poster, Trailer

Recently, I had the opportunity to see a new heist film from director Sidney Lumet. That film (Before the Devil Knows You're Dead) took the genre and attempted to bring something different to the table, and it worked, to an extent. Now we have Mad Money which brings Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah, and Katie Holmes together in what appears to be a comedic bent on the standard heist film. The difference here is the targeting of the female audience. The trailer looks decent, Keaton and Latifah both have great screen charisma, while Holmes is still largely untested. It will be interesting to see if this works.

That's all for this week!
