9/20: Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, Nebraska (Nebraska vs. Virginia Tech)
Jumping from Big 10 country to Big XII country, this week brings us to Nebraska - another storied tradition fallen on hard times. Regardless of how they're playing now, I'm visiting Lincoln to see the Husker fans. Cornhusker football is a way of life in Nebraska, as Memorial Stadium boasts a streak of sold out games that stretches back to 1962. Every Saturday for the last 288 Saturdays, the stadium has turned into the third largest city in Nebraska. I don't think there are any more dedicated fans in all of college football.

9/27: Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, Norman, Oklahoma (Oklahoma vs. ?)
Seven hours straight south on Highway 135 takes you from the Big XII North to the Big XII South. The Sooners' fans have a football-centric vibe very similar to Nebraska's fans, but OU's doing better as of late. In addition to being a collegiate powerhouse, I have ulterior motives: I attend OU and couldn't go a season without seeing an OU game. I love hearing Boomer Sooner yelled back and forth across the stadium, and I love seeing the Sooner Schooner race out onto the field after every score. It's a great atmosphere.

10/4: Neyland Stadium, Knoxville, Tennessee (Tennessee vs. Northern Illinois)
The 13-hour drive from Norman to Knoxville is the longest haul on my road trip, but it gets me into SEC territory. My first SEC game of the season would be at Tennessee, with the Vols hopefully dismantling Northern Illinois in their home stadium. My main attraction to Neyland Stadium is the fact that it's a monster, averaging more than 105,000 people per game over the past nine years.

10/11: Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Gainesville, Florida (Florida vs. LSU)
Every minute of the 8.5 hour drive would be in anticipation of this game, one of the gems on this schedule. I love watching Tim Tebow on TV, so I'll be excited about seeing him live - and with a true test on his hands, as the Tigers come to town. He'll have the Swamp to help him out, though. The Swamp is loud, steep, completely enclosed and almost impossible for visitors to win in. The fans get into it with singing, chanting and screaming. There's nothing about this game that wouldn't be incredible.

10/18: Sanford Stadium, Athens, Georgia (Georgia vs. Vanderbilt)
I grew up watching SEC football, and I've always admired the architectural design of Georgia's stadium. The view from the upper-deck TV cameras showing the field and stands is something that has stuck with me since childhood. The privet hedges surrounding the field also add to the unique beauty of this field. As for the game, I went to high school with Vanderbilt QB Mackenzi Adams, so I get to cheer for whatever team does best.

10/25: Tiger Stadium, Baton Rouge, Louisiana (LSU vs. Georgia)
Yeah, I just saw Georgia play, but I didn't see them play in Death/Deaf Valley. I found out during this article that both names are used - I had only heard Death Valley. The other name is appropriate, though - Tiger Stadium is one of the loudest places in college football. The fans aren't just loud, though - the jumping and up and down after a game-winning touchdown throw in 1988 over Auburn registered as an earthquake on the LSU geology department's seismology equipment. That's some pretty intense celebration.
