Grey's Anatomy (Finally) Delivers and the Writers' Guild Taketh Away

Finally. Or should I say, "unfortunately". Just as Grey’s Anatomy heats up so does the WGA strike. Seriously? Seriously? If you’re a fan of the show you know what I’m talking about. Season three was not the best by any stretch of the imagination. Actually, season three of Grey’s was worse than any sophomore slump I’ve seen in awhile (Heroes, I’m looking at you). The ferry crash and Meredith almost dying were just the tip of the iceberg. We also had the beginning of Gizzie (who’s idea was that?) and the downfall of Isaiah Washington.

But all of that aside, Grey’s has finally shown signs of returning to greatness. Tonight’s episode was the best yet this season. Gizzie is as good as done (thank goodness), Bailey and George were back in action together, Meredith put her foot in her mouth - again - and there were witty and pithy comments being tossed about by all. What more can you ask for in an episode of Grey’s?

I think the overall theme of cliques and how they rule the school, or in this case, the hospital, was very well played. The relationship between Bailey and her high school crush, who used her to do his homework (and was still trying to get her to fill out his hospital paperwork!), was so relatable. The clique theme also opened up the relationship between Derek and that nurse (whose name he can remember, but I can’t) in the OR. Although, honestly, I like my "dark and twisty" Meredith when she’s with McDreamy. Someone stop nurse what’s-her-name before she ruins the strictly sex and mockery Derek/Meredith relationship.

So while we finally seem to be making progress with our favorite, sex-crazed doctors at Seattle Grace, the magic will soon come to an end. According to various sources, there are only four more original Grey’s episodes already in the can for this season. That means that come 2008, if the writers’ strike remains unsettled, we’ll be without a new episode of Thursday’s must watch show until… who knows when.

What will we do until then? We await the two-episode stint of Seth Green (begins November 24) and we remember the good times. Here are a few of my favorite quotes from this Thursday’s episode, "Forever Young". Enjoy. Seriously.

"Oh my god, hot cheerleader ass!" — Dr. Mark Sloane

"Mandy? Mandy!" — Marcus King, Bailey’s high school crush. Who knew "The Nazi" had another nickname?

"A treatment plan you could have made yourself, Dr. Bailey, if you weren’t acting like a blithering idiot." — The new doc in town, Erica Hahn

"You’re filling in for me as captain?"

"I prayed on it and God seems to think it’s the right move." — The "new" squad pom captain to the old captain with an injured coccyx

"What do you care with your hair products and our perfect little face, perfect little life? What do you care how I am" — Bailey to Shepherd

"Perfect little life? Have you been paying attention at all?" — Derek in response to Dr. Bailey

Erin S Medley fully supports the WGA and all of its members. She's just really sad that November sweeps are building her up for what will surely be a dramatic fall come January.

The girls name is Rose and I hope that it will be a name that i will forget

I agree with Amanda. Meredith and Derek are soul mates and i would hate to see some nurse mess that up for them. Meredith needs just a little more time to be able to commit and Rose is only going to delay the process of that happening

p.s. I thought that Rose was annoying and i have been reading alot of Grey's fans comments and she is not very popular, funny since she was only on for maybe three minutes
