TV Review: Prison Break - "Bang and Burn"
Published November 14, 2007
Well, Michael finally got out of Sona – sort of.
Monday’s episode marks the final episode of Prison Break until January, and here’s the dilemma. Viewers should be saying, “Wow, I can’t wait to see what happens when the show returns.”
Viewers are likely saying, “Wow, I wonder if I’ll watch this show when it returns.”
Yes, despite quality writing and fascinating characters, the Prison Break big picture is about as much of a mess as the jonesing Alex Mahone was while testifying before that Federal panel.
Really, did the fall season of Prison Break have any point at all? There is no sane reason why the nefarious “Company” would continue to harass Michael and Lincoln with this nonsense scheme when they had the ability to break Whistler out of Sona by force any time they wanted to. Is it ironically entertaining that Michael actually prevented Whistler’s escape? Sure, but again, what’s the point?
With Sara Tancredi’s death, Michael has no final redemptive goal. Essentially, the only reason to watch this show is to see if he gains some measure of Karmic revenge instead.
So yeah Monday we found out the following:
- Latin Tweener has a nice shirt that he wears instead of his Tracey McGrady jersey for special occasions.
- Mahone is on his way back to Sona.
- Lechero’s empire is continuing to fall apart.
- Whistler lied to his girlfriend and isn’t the innocent stooge we all thought he might be.
- Robert Knepper, the best actor on television, continues to be wasted.
- Lincoln continues to get smarter and learn from his previous mistakes. Way to pull the trigger big guy.
- Amazingly enough, I was disappointed that Brad Bellick had no dialogue this week.
