First Dora the Explorer TV Movie to Air November 5

I was never a true Dora the Explorer girl; it was all about Blue's Clues for me. Dora came in right when I was leaving the "Nick Jr." phase and starting on the "Nick" phase. My sister liked it, though. But Dora's pretty cool. It's cute how those little kids with really tiny shoes go mad over Dora. So, if you have a kid this age, make sure they catch this.

At 7 PM on November 5, Dora is going to take on a mission that adults everywhere have been attempting to solve — saving mermaids from pollution. Okay, maybe not the mermaid part, but still. Dora's a pretty cool chica.

So, Dora and Boots are cleaning up the beach (see, if more people were like Dora, our environment would be squeaky clean). This singing clam (how cool is this so far?) tells them the story about Marianna the Mermaid. This mean octopus dumped garbage on her kingdom. Oh, the nerve. Somehow, Marianna finds this magic crown and wishes for the trash to go away. (If I had a magic crown, I'd wish for a passing Spanish grade. Some people mermaids have all the luck.)

But then this storm arrives and the crown washes on shore. With the help from the viewers, Dora finds the crown. (Not fair. If I helped Dora find the crown, I'd keep it for myself. I could use help with those boys...) So, Dora, as usual, goes on an adventure. And she gets to make a wish. So, instead of wishing for Maddy's acceptance into _____ College, she wishes for her to be a mermaid. Silly Dora. We have a love-hate relationship.

Cameron Diaz teams up with Nick Jr. by teaching kids to protect the environment. Show your kids Nick Jr.'s website where Cameron and Dora teach kids all about the environment.

The thing I like about Dora (And probably one of the reasons it's been on the air for seven years) is that she's a Latina girl. It's cool because it teaches all the kids Spanish culture. As a bonus, in every episode, she teaches the kids a Spanish word. I wonder what it will be in the movie. The movie is actually already available on Amazon.

Au revoir... I mean adios!

Hmm... maybe she can teach me Spanish?

Maddy is 17 and is a senior year in high school. She is the Preview/Review editor for her school paper and excels in AP classes. She has a twin and loves the Pittsburgh Steelers. She has a radio show (part of the BC Radio Network) on Wednesdays at 5 PM available at BlogTalkRadio.
