Music Review: Armor for Sleep - Smile for Them
Published October 30, 2007
Thanks to the wonderful (or not so wonderful) MySpace I came across Armor for Sleep’s latest album Smile for Them and it’s great. Fantastic actually. I haven’t been able to listen to anything else all day. Lucky for me they have the whole album set up for you to listen to at the moment. But I will buy this one, I don’t plan on free-loading for too much longer.
Armor for Sleep is Ben Jorgensen (vocals and guitar) P.J. DeCicco (guitar) Anthony Dilonno (bass) and Nash Breen (drums). They’ve been around since 2003 and Smile for Them is their third album. The official release date was October 30th but most of the album was leaked and has been available for the listening pleasure of the masses for about a week now.
“Smile for the Camera” kicks off the album and makes for a great opening. “What if you find out/ Everyone that’s in your life/ Is only being paid off/ By the TV studio/ And every conversation/ Everyone’s had with you/ Was scripted by the writers/ Living in Los Angeles/ Smile for the camera.”
Of course if you’re a TRL fan then you’ve heard “Williamsburg” already and this one is particularly catchy. The chorus just begs to be sung at the top of your voice while you pray to God that you aren’t that poser. “Passed out, sleeping at your party/ Dream of leaving in the morning/ You will all die in Williamsburg/ Too hip to even clean your nose out/ Your grave is pulling at your pants now/ You will all die in Williamsburg.”
“Someone Else’s Arms” just squeezes the heart and should appeal to anyone who at the moment is suffering from a broken heart. For those of us that aren’t, its just good music. “Well it’s only love it’s not real anyways/ You’re gonna die in somebody else’s arms/ And I have to live with that.”
