Comic Book Review: DC Comics' 52, Week 44
Published October 28, 2007
Something really stinks in Khandaq. It’s probably the smell of rotting brother-in-law. What, to be blunt? Yuurd the Unknown, a.k.a. Sobek, a.k.a. the fourth horseman, a.k.a. Sobek, revealed himself in the most gruesome of ways. Yuurd is definitely unknown no longer. It is said in comics that a character is not truly dead unless you see a body. Well, you’ll see the body in its pre-chewed form in Week 44.
It might be too simple to say that Black Adam is a little perturbed at Yuurd for his murder of Osiris. The band is finally back together, and the Four Horsemen of Apocalips are ready to destroy the land Black Adam protects and the family he made during this lost year. Black Adam has become a furious torrent of a man, blessed with unimaginable power, unleashed on a prey who don't consider the consequences of ticking him off.
Nearly the entire issue is dedicated to Black Adam tearing everything that breathes or moves towards him to shreds. In the end, well, there are advertisements for the upcoming World War III event in this issue. Which says a lot more than I have to.
The only other story this week is about Renee Montoya finally making a choice and leaving Nanda Parbat. It’s about damn time. There is no back-up material this week, and I don’t think you need it. This was a great issue, with a promise of more goodness to come. I can’t wait until WWIII.
