American Gangster, the highly anticipated movie starring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe, lands in theaters Friday, Nov 2. The gritty crime saga is based on the true life of notorious Harlem drug-lord Frank Lucas. The film has an impressive cast of talent, and is being pushed by CD releases featuring the return of the King Of New York, Jay-Z as well as the official movie soundtrack, which features a mix of retro seventies soul classics, and new music from Anthony Hamilton and Hank Shocklee.

The movie also stars T.I., Ruby Dee, Josh Brolin, Cuba Gooding Jr, Carla Gugino, Chiwetel Ejiofer, Armand Assante, and RZA. The real life story of Lucas has been heard and seen before on screen, in “Superfly” and “Hoodlum.” This new take on his life puts his rise as the underworld king of New York in focus. Denzel Washington plays Frank Lucas, as an unrelenting drug trafficker, and Russell Crowe plays Richie Roberts, the New Jersey police officer intent on bring him down.
