With Blair busy, Nate seeks out Serena to talk to about his father’s drugs; Blair will undoubtedly be thrilled with his choice.

Vanessa pops in for her date with Dan. Rufus meets her dressed up for something mysterious and reminds her that she broke Dan’s heart when she left. Vanessa apparently has plans to make it all better, which probably don’t go well with the tux Dan is off renting.

Hey, it’s Dan. He’s calling Vanessa and making his second huge lie of the episode. Yes, this is our show’s hero!

Rufus is off to meet Lily over at the Waldorf house, where yet another get-together is taking place. Lily claims that she’s trying to introduce him to high society. Rufus instantly realizes he’s there to make Chuck’s father, Bart, jealous. Wow, all these people are really passive aggressive scum, aren’t they?

Vanessa encourages Jenny to crash the Blair ball with her; my, this is going to get ugly. Who will throw the first punch? Serena, Dan, Vanessa, Blair, Nate, Chuck? I don’t see any reason for Chuck to throw a punch, but he’s Chuck so it’s always possible.

At the ball, Dan steals a mask and an identity from a drunken kid. How James Bond of him. Dan sees Serena dancing happily with someone that is not him. Instantly, he realizes what an idiot he is.

Vanessa, who was planning to leave, realizes that she has Jenny’s keys. Really, it’s genius how these big explosions are plotted so carefully.

Nate is flunking his scavenger hunt.

Chuck sees Jenny and gets all hot and bothered, apparently forgetting that he tried to rape her a few weeks ago. What a guy.

Chuck talks to Jenny and still doesn’t get the picture. She tells him to meet her in the back. Jenny has become very Machiavellian these last two weeks.

Back at the adult party, Nate’s dad is striking out with Eleanor, when Rufus kisses Lily passionately. Bart doesn’t look pleased. We could have a fight at both parties.

Serena’s date begins talking like a rich ass. Dan sees his opportunity and pounces. Serena is less than impressed.

The mini-Blairs try to push Nate forward. His mind is elsewhere.

Jenny cons Chuck into slowly disrobing. We all know where this is going.

Dan sweet talks Serena and winds up with a kiss, which of course is witnessed by Vanessa.

Dan (to Vanessa): I didn’t lie to you; I merely refrained from telling you the truth.
